Gave me a HUGE book hangover. I went through 5 books afterwards just trying to find something comparable and realizing there really wasn't anything.

I know! That's it - exactly. And while I might enjoy other books, and I will, it will be a long time coming before another will knock this one off the pedestal I've put it on.
I know how you feel, Donna. I LOVED this book. I didn't want to let go of the characters. I wanted to know what happened to them next. And I kept thinking of it for days after I finished it. I'm a fast reader and I don't often get a book hangover. But, buddy, I had one after this book.

I'm listening to Lisa See's new one and let's face it, it's not AS good, but it's good. No author should worry about this. Stockett has set the damn bar so HIGH I don't know who (at least for me) will ever reach it going forward. 🫤
Donna~Such a Beautiful Review. I am so glad you loved The Calamity Club. I did, too. Thought it was so good and moving and special. I read this a couple of months ago and had several other excellent books to read, but this one just lifted my spirits and touched my heart. My best to you. I'm STILL thinking about it! I'm still comparing other books. I am enjoying those other books, but one of my favorite questions online is, "If you could have a book to read again for the very first time, which one would you want it to be?" Well, for me? This one! I'd happily live in Will Ferrell's world of Groundhog Day just to be able to read this again as if I never had.
