Ally From one weird-ass brain to another: Thank you for your book (which I have not yet read), and for the review of your book (which I have—five stars!).

"If somebody doesn't want to be saved, there isn't much you can do to help them." This is something I have finally come to understand.

Kinsey Keys It took me over twenty years to understand it, and it’s such a simple little revelation, no? What’s funny is I thought I “got it” for years, would say it with my whole chest and everything, but somewhere in my heart I still believed (or more likely hoped) I could help save him. So don’t feel bad if for whatever reason you change your mind about this, then change it again, and again and again. Part three of this book might read as repetitive to some who don’t know what loving an addict is like, as it sure felt that way to me as I wrote it. But it’s truly what finally allowed me to see the cycle for what it was, a never-ending loop that slowly sapped everything from me. I hope by the end of reading this, you will be able to choose yourself without guilt and truly know in your heart that it isn’t your fault for doing so. Somebody has to choose you, and I’m sorry your loved one was unable to.
