Well this makes sense of some wild conversations I’ve had with people after they read this book lol
The language for husband and husbandry is necessarily agrarian — husbandry is taking care of land and animal. A man is supposed to husband the garden that is his wife — providing, caring, planting seeds, making her beautiful and fruitful. Scripture seems to purposefully link these ideas through shares symbolism, and so it doesn’t seem wrong to then link how one treats his wife to how one treats the land.

Ben Merkle preached a really good sermon from Ezra where he talked about confessing collective sin vs individual sin. Very helpful as the nation’s godlessness has affected all areas of culture and living. Very helpful I think to distinguish in my own life, that we can confess the sins of the church but also feel no shame in buying and enjoying the food our family can afford.

I grew up near the headquarters of Tyson and there was a processing plant right by our high school track. Made for some tough workouts, haha. There ain’t no stink like that stink!
