Very thoughtful and detailed review of book, Karen. I'm curious as to how you manage to "pull" specific sections to address. Do you take notes as you go? Highlight paragraphs? Flag pages to come back to? Read with pen in hand and outline details? Highlighting with markers doesn't seem an option you'd use.
Personally I'm often thinking I need to make a list of characters names and their relationships to others in book.
That being said, I greatly admire yourself and others that publish such lovely reviews. Have a great summer.

But it's staying with me as well and will be worth re-reading. Ann Patchett narrates the audio version and is fantastic, you just melt right into the story.

What a beautiful review, Karen! Written from the heart. (Not that your other reviews are not.) But this one reveals that the book really touched you. I came across Ann Patchett while reading ‘The Correspondent’ by Virginia Evans, where the protagonist sends Patchett a letter, giving her views on a book she liked by the author. Now you have convinced me…I’ll read ’Whistler’ for sure. Are all Patchett’s books equally good?
