Looks like the AI decided that the secure test environment no longer had anything to offer...

Btw, I find AI to be an amazing thing and a whole new reality, but like most people, I have no trust in its autonomy... after all, humans are not trustworthy so why should we expect anything else from our creations? A head-scratcher, for sure

Of course, the developers would use AI to build the kill switch...
Would AI look at a kill switch as attempted murder? Hmmmm...
Look for PKD's book, "Vulcan's Hammer" An early look at the What if? questions back in the 1950s
I'll look at your other review
If you look around a bit, you'll find a surprising number of alignment papers which discuss the question of whether various AI architectures will allow people to hit the kill switch. I think it's still more theoretical than practical, but only just.
