Omg that’s so disappointing I was really looking forward to it! I loved we used to live here and want to read something like that again!!!!
Was looking forward to this one, maybe I’ll take caution when I do get around to it. Because I do still tend to read it.
I gave this one 4 stars but it definitely didn’t scare me nearly as much as We Used to Live Here. Apparently both stories take place in the same universe so I hope the author continues to develop it!
I kept waiting for the rites to be explained like why did she have to do all that? And the phone calls? They said they came from a world where someone like her fell. I don't always need all the answers in books but important ones that help the plot make sense ugh ya.
Aarrggh I agree. Halfway through and struggling to continue, especially with the narrator excessively dramatic
A whole ball of nothing is exactly what this book was. The premise was interesting but it just ended up going in circles with wayyy too much internal dialogue and excessive descriptions and word salad. All just dragged out to provide no actual answers. I wanted to like this one
Hated the main character. Endless neurotic inner monologue of anxiety and regret. She fails at every rite and then they tell her to go mow the lawn. The entire book seemed pointless.
This review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 the first half had me scared to close my eyes and then the second half just felt rushed and unfinished.
The internal dialogue was exhausting. But maybe that was also intentional. Definitely frustrated that nothing was explained!
I related to this review. I was hooked for the first 1/2 of the book, maybe a bit more… but then I found it exhausting. I think it was supposed to be a commentary on mental illness mostly and how it feels to be someone living with depression/anxiety/delusions… but I don’t think it was very well executed. I have more questions than answers.
I actually really loved this one. I think it was a real raw view of the harsh and incapacitated feeling of depression. Nothing you do makes you feel like you can climb out of the hole. Your inner thoughts seem to scream at you. Most days you just feel like you are living the same day over and over hoping eventually there is a breakthrough. I think the author did a great job capturing the horror of it all.
It got really crazy the last 7-8 chapters. I enjoyed it but the ending was another classic “ok what???”
I would disagree. But I do see what you mean with the internal dialogues. It was a bit frustrating that she couldn’t get anything simple done. BUT it did add immersion for me and with the internal dialogues, it gave more of a personal feel into her character as to how she behaves while she’s alone in her own mind. :)
I was more generous with my rating but yeah...kept waiting for the rides to be explained, the visitors to be explained, such a stupid stupid protagonist with so much internal dialogue and side story euuurgh!
My wish as a writer is to be able to write 300 pages with nothing to say. And get away with including brown and white rabbits.
