UNQUY is a historical novel set in the Andean north of Argentina in 1811, during the South American wars of independence. It moves through Tupiza, the Quebrada de Humahuaca, and the high desert of the Puna — a region that shaped the war but rarely appears in fiction in English.
The story follows Inés, a healer from Tilcara who is drawn into a clandestine network of women — healers, traders, muleteers, messengers — who carried information through the mountains where men could not go. It's a war told from the side history tends to forget.
