I'm Laura, an Argentine writer living in the United States, and I've just joined the group. I'm here for two reasons: to grow my own reading list — this looks like the perfect place for it — and to find readers who might enjoy my novel before it comes out.
I write historical fiction set in the Andean north of Argentina — the Quebrada de Humahuaca, the high desert, the years of the wars of independence around 1811. It's a corner of the world that rarely appears in fiction in English.
My first novel, UNQUY, comes out on August 19. It follows Inés, a healer drawn into a clandestine network of women who carried information through the mountains during the war. If the setting interests you and you'd like a free advance copy to read before publication — and review only if you enjoy it — I'd be glad to send one. Just say hello here or send me a message.
And please, point me to your own favorites set in unexpected corners of the world. My "want to read" list is ready to grow.
