Roman Clodia 'porridgy translationese' is genius! I've suffered it too in other books.

Roman Clodia Sounds like quite a difference from Conrad's usual style - I've always thought that last page of Heart of Darkness is one of the most sublime examples of prose I know.

Warwick Well, yes, which is why I was so disappointed here. Perhaps the fact that he wrote it during some kind of psychotic episode has something to do with it. Although others on my friends list seem to have liked it a lot more than I did.
