I didn't like Book 1 either but was curious enough about Butch and Marissa that I wanted to keep reading. You should read Book 2 and Book 3. Especially Book 3. :)

Marissa's a sap. I couldn't stand her weakness. ha! (I know, I'm brutal). I liked book 1 because my only other vampire foray was Twilight.
Read on in the series...you have to get to the Qhuinn & Blay parts (aka...what made women worldwide start reading M/M!) :)

:)) you know I just was really irritated, about your use of "him" in: "a more dignified name for him" :
both Ehre and Erection are female in German Grammatical Gender (die Ehre und die Erektion) - I couldn´t see what "him" there was to dignify - well I got it now: Ehrection is certainly male
I'm German too but I never made the connection between Ehre and Ehrection :-D
An honourection in English. Would you *be* the honoured one by getting an honourection or would you honour someone by getting one for them? Or would it be the honour to have an hnourection in situations others would be not allowed to have erection? What would an honourection guard look like? Sooooo many questions...
As always so many questions !! also in German could #quere Ehre replace queer pride in a dawning new political age that partly respects queerness but wants everything expressed in German ?

Okay, I think we've gone astray here in linguistics. I proposed Ehrection originally because it felt like a spelling-adaption similar to (albeit sillier than) the names of the Black Dagger crowd - like Vishous etc. I understand it has a different meaning in German and that German has gendered grammar but this really was just a throwaway joke on my part. I assumed the hypothetical Ehrection would be male because all members of the Black Dagger *brother*hood are male: but obviously a penis (or an erection) is not an inherent symbol of masculinity. Plenty of men, or masc-identified folks, don't have dicks.
This was an excellent review. I haven’t read this book yet,but I watched its TV adaptation on Passionflix. You should consider reviewing the show too to see if it fixed the problems you had with the story.
I loved your book “Mortal Follies” by the way.

Your review was very... Entertaining.. I 🤣🤣 a lot..
But it also leaves the impression that maybe you were looking a little too hard for things that actually weren't there, within certain plot devices/or characters.. But then again, reading is about one's own perspective, so it is what it is.. In any case, I enjoyed reading your take on this 1st book in this series.
The only burning questions I have, what would you rate this 2013 review? Since you never actually rated it, would you say it's a 1, 2, or 3 star for you? Cause I know it's not a 4 or 5 star based on what you wrote.. 🤣🤣
Did you ever move on to read further into the series? My fave book in this series was always book 3.. But I love them all for very different reasons.. I finally left Caldwell, New York after book 17 though.. The best in the series, IMO, are the single digit books of the series. With very few exceptions for some of the earlier double digit ones as well..

I was abnoxiously laughing throughout the whole review. "Wrath, Rhage, Phury, Ahngry and Rheallyquhiteupsehtrightnow" took me out immediately and “Ehrection” / “Phallus” was just absolute perfection.
The fact that I read these books (yeah, several) years ago and still remember a lot of it while simultaneously struggling to remember where I put my headphones last night (or even when my next dentist appointment is even after I read the text reminder) is a bit shocking, tho.

Your review was very... Entertaining.. I 🤣🤣 a lot..
