Daniel Wescott Hi Alana, sorry the book didn't land for you. I know what newt means - Nigel was being rebellious in a small and very British way. The multiple nicknames for the Devil are a trademark of the books in this collection (The Devilverse). It started with the the Conversations with the Devil books, which are in first person ultra-close POV (you are embedded in the mind of the human). Also, to your point about the lack of novel structure - that is on purpose. The stories are meant to help people suffering some all too common issues, which you alluded to. TWS On The Rocks was not meant to be read like a 3-act novel. That said, because so many readers are rigid in their expectations, the next one will be more inline with the traditional story format. It won't be exactly that way, naturally enough - it is, after all speculative fiction. But, it will still follow that rhythm and hopefully be more readable to people who need a full through line
