Romanticizing deadbeat dads is crazy work 💀
I bet it’s one of those, someone interfered when she was telling him she’s pregnant, either an evil ow, some evil family member or evil friend. So him being a deadbeat turns out to be a misunderstanding I’m prolly being delusional but I refuse to believe the opposite that a worthless deadbeat father is a romantic lead 😭
Y'all I've seen authors romantize Deadbeats before😭😭😭😭even worse I've seen rave 5 star reviews for books like that!! From the blurb it's said he didn't want the child 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ idk I knew of one where he provided financially for the child but he whored around and he was famous so she saw it in the blogs etc and he came back and she took him back easily 😒. Idk the romantic bar is in hell 😭😭😭😭😭 Idk how this author is going to fix this 🤷🏾♀️
Julia generally doesn’t do deadbeat assholes so I would be surprised if that was the case. And Ben’s personality in prior books doesn’t seem like that would be him. I don’t think ARCs have gone out yet so let’s see what happens.

oh this is that book ghosted shade and i love it. trash that abomination of a book for me more babe 😂😂😂 absolutely horrifying how he got that redemption so easy and so quickly
SunsetLibary that's why I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because I love this author and she generally doesn't do stuff like that so I'm hopeful 🤞🏽 I've seen one review that mentioned he was a golden retriever and devoted to them so time will tell
Capt. They love to do shit like that, what gets me is ok the h wants to be a spinless bird and take him back ok fine but what about the child? You'll accept a man who turned his back on his child back into that child's life so easily? Ughhh 👋🏽.
I'm not going to trash this book, this author has delivered some of my favourite books so I'm hopeful that she'll be the one to save this shitty trope 😫
Trust in Julia!! I just finished and it’s so good!! She would never write a deadbeat dad!! There was a mix up!!
Iv just read this as a arc and this comment is way off you have to of read the book to understand why she raised the baby alone nothing to do with "whored about" its a really good book to read i couldn't put it down
Now Carys I don't need arc reviewers coming in hot.... As I said I'm a fan of the author I'm worried about the trope because that's the way it usually goes. What you can do is what my girl Michelle did and say no that's not what's happening here ok. I'm waiting to read the book to understand clearly 😒

you are so welcome, happy if it helped!!!
Avid reader, we're on an island but that's ok I've never had a problem moving against the tide. This author is has given me some gems but this wasn't one of them!
Number 6 made me angry like no other....and okay I wouldn't go so far as to call him a deadbeat at the initial no child contact but just deciding BIG things like that by prioritizing your wants and needs before the child the you apparently were devastated you didnt know about and wants to be the best father of is just so hateful....and his INITIAL reaction was to take away the kid like what 🤔 makes you wonder if deep down he really is a deadbeat. The noncelibate H and celibate h is another ball I can write essays about 😭
Thanks for the review! I am at a point now where I always assumed that a 2nd chance book has double standard. Its getting tiring how normal this is 🥲
Rii number 6 had me wanting to drop kick good ol' golden retriever Benny boy into next month. He didn't sign the contract but the way he was all excited and talking to her about his plans to play for the team of his dreams when his first thought should've been oh wow great opportunity let me talk to her about how this'll affect our daughter!!!! Ughhhhhhhh and I'm not even going to get started on the packed away vagina and free to wander penis 😒
Exactly!! I don't understand why this is happening and from female authors too? So much happened to this h, not even a little companion to lean on? Heck a little ONS to take the edge off? 🤦🏽♀️
filing my official separation from this author 😭😭i'll remember her fondly for giving me daddy Elliot
Capt lol I'm not ready to seperate just yet but Benny boy definitely has me sleeping in another room with my Rihanna and Beyonce on repeat 😂

this must be the marking of a marriage in crisis grovel and redemption between you and julia 😆🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 hopefully the grovel is better than what we see in romance books today, I await her next release to see 🤷🏾♀️🤔
Thank you for the review, so glad I read this before the book. I hate - HATE! - it when h is celibate during separation and H is not.
I’m not a fan of MCs being with other people after they’ve been together because it doesn’t make the ‘true love’ implication believable for me. That’s just me, I get it.
But could we at least not have double standards please?!!
Like, if I can’t have a hero who pines for that ONE girl he was with years ago and just won’t be with anyone else, could I AT LEAST have an h who isn’t sad and lonely and not living *her* best (or just good) life away from H?!!! Why is that too much to ask?
(Rant over🙏🏼🙏🏼)
Humeira the h is NEVER allowed to move on smdh, even if she has sex it's always terrible 😔 Rant away you're in good company😫
Ahhh!! Secret baby/surprise pregnancy is a favorite trope of mine, when done right and with LOTS of groveling as needed and none of the BS double standard where the MMC continues to F around and the FMC is magically celibate while they are apart. Thank you so much for saving me from a book that would have driven me insane!
