I just joined Goodreads and found this forum to learn how a new book gets attention even here on Goodreads, let alone the TODAY show!!!

Hi, I hope this is okay to share here.My name is Sharelle, and I recently wrote a book called Narcissistic Traps.
I didn’t write it as something instructional or overly polished.
I wrote it because I kept noticing how many people walk away from situations and still feel like they don’t fully understand what happened.
Not the obvious parts, but the ones that stay with you after.
The conversations you replay. The moments that felt off but were never clear enough to explain at the time.
That’s what I tried to put into words.
If you’re the kind of reader who connects with books that make something click after the fact, this might be something you’d connect with.
If you’re open to it, I’d really appreciate you checking it out:
Link: mybook.to/narcissistictraps
If you do end up reading it, even a short review helps more than you probably realize. It’s how other readers decide if it’s something they need to pick up.
Narcissistic Traps: Breaking Free From Abuse, Gaslighting, Trauma Bonds, and the Patterns that Keep You Stuck
Cyber Warriors: The Firewall FrontierHi,
Check out my new book
Cyber Warriors: The Firewall Frontier ( by Leo Duruewuru).
I am new to this forum but not new to writing per se. I would love and appreciate an honest feedback on the book because it is the first I am publishing (Finally) and I want to implement the potential lessons from your feedback before I push in my second.
Publishing has been fun and I am restraining myself with difficulty from throwing in my second manuscript that I have kept to myself for almost one year!
You can reach me at leoduruewuru.feedback@gmail.com
Thanks.
Such a tricky business to get noticed on goodreads- at least it seems that way to me. I've just run my second giveaway for my new book 'Des Buckley's Braces Are Missing' and marvelous- 800 odd entered. That's one route you could take. Be aware, however, that one year hence, only a small percentage of the 100 winners will have picked it up to read. That's the nature of the beast.
Wow this is awesome 👍 I really love the passion and I would love to know more about your book.
Are you available for that??
Adam wrote: "I just joined Goodreads and found this forum to learn how a new book gets attention even here on Goodreads, let alone the TODAY show!!!"Is your book published already?
Hi Victoria , yes it is published on Amazon. It’s a TechnoThriller with a female protagonist . Blast to write hard to get eyes on it!Check out AdamKervale.com to read what it is about.
I’m a new author trying to figure out how to get noticed here too. My memoir launched April 21st and I’m still learning the landscape. The Fan in the Window: How We Inherit Trauma—and How We Interrupt It is about generational trauma and domestic violence—written from both sides. I’m a registered nurse and former forensic nurse. I lived it, and I sat with survivors clinically for years. This book exists because I genuinely want to reach people who are still carrying what was handed to them.
A giveaway isn’t in the budget right now, so I’m trying to figure out what actually works for indie authors here on Goodreads.
Has anyone run a giveaway and made back the investment in sales? Or found another way to build visibility here without spending money?
Would love to hear what’s working for others.
It is really inspiring to see everyone sharing their debut projects here! Navigating the world of KDP and Goodreads can definitely feel like a steep learning curve, but seeing the passion behind titles like Narcissistic Traps and Cyber Warriors makes the process feel much more collaborative. Best of luck with the launches!

That’s a great question, Tressa. Giveaways can be a hit or miss for ROI, but they are great for adding books to 'Want to Read' lists. If a giveaway isn't in the budget, try engaging in specific genre groups (like Memoir or Psychology) and offering value there first. Since your book covers such a vital topic, readers will respond more to your expertise as a nurse than a sales pitch. Authentic connection usually beats a paid giveaway for long-term visibility!
Hi everyone,I hope it’s okay to share something here.
In 2022, I traveled from South America to the United States through a migration route that included crossing the Darién Gap.
I recently completed a nonfiction book based on this firsthand experience. It explores not only the journey itself, but also what drives people to take these risks and the realities behind these journeys.
I’m currently preparing it for publication and am looking for a few thoughtful readers for early feedback.
If you’re interested, feel free to DM me—I’d be happy to share a PDF copy.
Thank you.
The hardest thing as a new author is being patient. Trying not to spend on advertising too much before reviews have accumulated. On top of that there is a daily barrage of solicitations to sign up for this that or the other to put you at #1 on Amazon etc. Fix your click throughs or have AI take over and run ads for you. It is difficult to not fall for something when sales are minuscule. Nevertheless there is the occasional text or contact which is encouraging .

The Architect of Broken Vows
by Amit Charaya (Author) Format: Kindle Edition
What happens when the life you built no longer feels like your own… and the person who reminds you of yourself is someone from your past?
Mira’s marriage looks ordinary from the outside—stable, practical, respectable.
But behind routine, silence, and carefully managed expectations, she has slowly begun to disappear.
Then one unexpected afternoon in a Hospital changes everything.
Karan—her first love, her forgotten history, the boy who once knew her before life taught her to become smaller—walks back into her world.
What begins as a chance reunion becomes something far more dangerous: a mirror.
As buried emotions resurface and old memories awaken, Mira finds herself caught between the life she has built and the woman she used to be. Between loyalty and longing. Survival and truth. Staying… and truly living.
But when love arrives not as escape, but as awakening, Mira must confront the most difficult question of all:
Is she choosing between two men—
or between two versions of herself?
An emotionally powerful, deeply intimate story of marriage, identity, first love, heartbreak, and self-discovery, this novel explores the fragile spaces between duty and desire, who we become for others, and what it costs to finally choose yourself.
Perfect for readers who love:
Emotional women’s fiction
Marriage and relationship drama
Slow-burn emotional romance
Love triangles with depth
Psychological healing journeys
Some love stories change your life.
Some simply return you to yourself.
Hi, I'm Debbie Friedman, author of GUARDED: Women, Water, and Saving Lives — a memoir about the first generation of women ocean lifeguards on the California coast — before Baywatch. Our stories were buried for fifty years. I went back to find them — the danger, the high stakes, and yes, tons of humor, like "Where exactly will these females go pee?"
Hi All, Mel Douglas here. Author of The Ashford Saga, a sweeping romance series where family duty tests the limits—and the power—of love, as generations of the Ashford family navigate dangerous secrets, impossible choices, and the slow burn of desire. I would love to know how to get my books noticed on Good Reads. It is definitely a struggle for new authors.

Hi, I’m Margarita Yaz, author of Lilith: The Woman Who Walked Between Worlds. I write in that space where psychology, fate, and myth intersect. LILITH is a dual‑POV, dual‑timeline psychological love story told in first person, unfolding across the modern world and 14th‑century Florence on the edge of the Renaissance. Hello everyone, I would like to share with you my newly published book. The book is a fascinating dive into the vibrant technological transformation from light bulbs to AI algorithms. You can check out more details and the synopsis given below:
Synopsis:- From Dust to Data is a sweeping multi-generational epic that charts the transformation of modern India through the eyes of Arjun, born in 1980 in the desert town of Mandawa. His journey begins in the amber glow of a single 60-watt tungsten bulb—a hard-won symbol of middle-class triumph in an era defined by manual labor and kerosene-scented nights.
As Arjun grows, the story mirrors the nation’s rapid technological awakening. The narrative meticulously captures the sensory magic of the 90s: the communal ritual of adjusting rooftop antennas for grainy telecasts and the screeching symphony of dial-up modems. Through the decades, technology shifts from a shared household miracle to an intimate, pocket-sized tether.
The book explores the "Bridge Generation" paradox: Arjun navigates the IT boom, the birth of the smartphone, and the eventual rise of pervasive AI in 2030, all while grappling with the timeless complexities of love, parental loss, and the digital distance growing within his marriage. It is a poignant reflection on what it means to remain human when reality becomes a stream of data, and how a man who started with a lightbulb learned to find his soul in the age of the algorithm.

Hello everyone,I’m new to the group and glad to be here. I joined because I enjoy thoughtful book discussions and discovering what other readers are connecting with.
I recently published my debut novel, The Night Driver, Book One in the Diego De LaCruz Thriller Series. It is a gritty crime thriller set in 1979 New York City, following a nineteen-year-old night-shift taxi driver and martial artist who gets pulled into a violent fight against organized crime.
I do not want to overstep the group rules, so I am only sharing this if author introductions and book mentions are allowed. I look forward to being part of the discussions and seeing what everyone is reading.

I am excited to share with you my memior that I wrote and self published. This is my very first book, I never in my life thought I would ever write one.Behind The Sofa: The Years That Shaped Me
A Childhood Memoir of Chaos, Hardship, Warmth, Discipline, and Unforgettable Joy
Not every childhood fits neatly into a storybook. Mine was messy, unpredictable, and at times brutal, but it was also full of love, laughter, freedom, and moments of joy that no money could ever buy.
Behind The Sofa is a raw and unfiltered memoir of growing up in 1980s and 90s Britain, where love and discipline were dished out in equal measure, where families hid from the milkman when money ran short, and where adventure was found in scrapyards, football fields, woodland trails, and even in the most unconventional of places, like the inside of a converted 52-seater coach that for a time became home.
Told with honesty, humour, and grit, this is the story of a boy who stumbled through hardship, scraped his knees on both concrete and life, tested every boundary set before him, and still carried a fierce love for family, a strong sense of belonging, and the simple things that made childhood unforgettable.
If you have ever longed for the days when kids played outside until dark, when neighbours were not strangers, and when growing up meant learning the hard way, you will find yourself in these pages. This is not a polished tale with neat endings. It is real life, rough, nostalgic, funny, heartbreaking, unconventional, and above all, filled with love and happiness.
Step behind the sofa, where the bills went unpaid and childhood unfolded in all its chaotic beauty, tough at times but always bound together by laughter and love.

Hello everyone, I’m currently helping authors increase visibility for their books and connect with more readers through organic promotion and review outreach. I’m always open to supporting fellow authors, sharing ideas, and collaborating. If anyone is interested in discussing book visibility or marketing strategies, feel free to connect.
Thanks for hosting such a robust forum! I've published five indie romance novels and yes, I'm a guy, and using my real name. Not hiding. While I realize building a reader foundation takes time, it is so frustrating to get all the spam from marketers who are writing the form letter: "I loved your approach to love in (book title)" I'm not kidding. They didn't even bother to enter the title of my book! I have someone working on my books now, but this whole "Be patient, it takes time" wears on you when you spend so much time writing and editing and so little time getting checks from KDP. Sorry, back to the keyboard...
Hi everyone! I am new author, my book was just released last week. I am a romance lover, so yes my book is YA emotional romance. It’s full of funny scenes, friendships, love, spicy, challenges, loss.. Every emotion is there, you name it. It’s a story that will leave you speechless. And it’s a cliffhanger, this one is the first in series. I would really appreciate reviewing my book ❤️ Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H4QQG2D1
THE KING MUST KILL THE QUEENHi everyone! 👋

# Blog 4: Why Outsourced Bookkeeping Services Are Growing in AustraliaManaging bookkeeping internally can become increasingly challenging as businesses expand.
Transaction processing, reconciliations, accounts payable, and reporting require accuracy and consistency. Yet these tasks often consume time that could be invested elsewhere.
This is why demand for **outsourced bookkeeping service** providers continues to grow.
Outsourced bookkeeping can help businesses:
* Improve efficiency
* Reduce administrative workload
* Maintain accurate financial records
* Access specialised expertise
* Scale support as required
Importantly, bookkeeping outsourcing is no longer limited to large organisations. Small businesses and accounting firms alike are recognising the benefits of flexible operational support.
Providers such as Proowrx help Australian businesses manage bookkeeping and administrative accounting tasks through structured workflows designed around local requirements.
For many businesses, outsourced bookkeeping services offer a practical way to strengthen financial operations while freeing internal teams to focus on growth.

Hi Eshal,Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on your book! A story dealing with mental health and survival sounds incredibly deep and important. As a fellow indie author, I’d love to do a review swap with you! I can definitely check out your book. In return, would you be open to reading my new self-help book, Healing Your Inner Bestie, and leaving an honest review on Amazon? If you are interested, let me know and I can send you the free PDF copy of my book right away!
Best regards,
Hello, I'm new here. I have a question: has anyone experienced a major transformation in their Christian life, and then a few months later, you are right back to the way you were before?
Hi everyone,I'm delighted to be joining this community. I'm an author with a deep interest in relationship dynamics and the often-overlooked emotional patterns that shape our closest relationships.
I want to introduce my book, The Silent Breakup.
The Silent Breakup: The Untold Story of Disconnection—And the Small Steps Back Toward Healing
It's about the kind of breakup that doesn't happen overnight. Instead, it unfolds quietly through emotional distance, unresolved conflict, unmet needs, and the gradual loss of connection that many couples experience long before anyone says, "It's over."
I'm honoured that The Silent Breakup was selected as a finalist in the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards, which was incredibly encouraging as an independent author.
My goal was to provide practical insights grounded in psychology and real-life relationship dynamics that readers can apply to their own lives, whether they're trying to strengthen a relationship, understand a past one, or simply gain a deeper understanding of human connection.
It's been an amazing journey publishing my first book. One of the biggest challenges, though, has been getting it into the hands of the people who need it most. As many authors know, writing the book is only half the journey.
I'm looking forward to connecting with fellow readers and hearing your perspectives.
One question I'd love to ask is:
Do you think relationships usually end with one defining moment, or do they slowly unravel over time without either person fully realizing it?
Thank you for welcoming me to the group. I look forward to joining the discussions and getting to know everyone.
Hello everyone! My name is John Cicero, and I write uplifting fiction centered on family, hope, faith, and the moments that quietly shape who we become. My newest novel, Rock, Paper, Scissors, begins with a simple childhood game. Years later, a forgotten journal, an old photograph, and a single word lead a young woman to Siena, Italy, where she discovers that some of life's greatest treasures are not found—they are understood.
My novel The Seventh Door of the Carpenter begins with a discovery buried for more than a century. What follows is a journey through mystery, history, and questions that refuse to stay hidden, challenging what its characters believe about purpose, hope, and the unseen forces that shape our lives.
I'm looking forward to connecting with fellow readers, discovering new books, and sharing in great conversations about stories that stay with us long after the final page.
Wishing everyone happy reading!

Hello everyone, I am a young teen author who just published her first book " it's you " on Amazon, I am writing a new book!!, stay tunedd!! Follow me for more updates!!
I’ve published five contemporary romance novels in the last 15 months and have a trilogy ready for release. After researching the genre it seemed 90% of the readers and authors are women. So I’m an outlier but my reviews here have been consistently great. The problem is hacking a path through the millions of books on Amazon. Not that I haven’t been solicited by hundreds of marketers😂

Adam wrote: "I just joined Goodreads and found this forum to learn how a new book gets attention even here on Goodreads, let alone the TODAY show!!!"Hi Adam,I recently came across Outside Eden's Gate: A Shadow Falls and wanted to personally congratulate you on the release. Blending a sharp CIA procedural with ancient theological prophecy, specifically pulling in buried 1400s Vatican lore alongside modern AI-era disinformation, is a brilliant, terrifyingly plausible premise. Ava Trudeau’s journey from hard evidence to unnamable psychological warfare makes for a propulsive thriller that deserves a massive audience.I saw your recent post on Goodreads about navigating the platform and aiming for major milestones like the TODAY Show. You have a 5-star concept, but right now, the book is fighting the classic "new author" visibility trap.To bridge the gap between where the book is now (4 reviews) and the mainstream media attention you want, you need a coordinated push. Specifically, the book is currently missing:Algorithmic Momentum: Goodreads and Amazon won't organically recommend the book until it crosses critical review thresholds.Targeted Fandom Funnels: Directing readers who love Dan Brown-style historical conspiracies or techno-thrillers straight to your pages.A Media-Ready Digital Footprint: Producers at major networks look at active, highly engaged community hubs before booking breakout authors.I specialize in helping authors solve exactly this. I help bring books like yours directly to the right audiences, scale your reviews, and build the exact platform momentum needed to catch the eye of media producers.I would love to share a couple of specific strategies tailored to Outside Eden's Gate. Let me know if you have a few minutes to chat this week!
Hello everyone, I am a first time novelist at age 58. My foodie romcom is called Harmony's Bytes. It's a romantic romp through San Francisco's restaurant, cafe, and bar scene. Think of a literary "When Harry Met Sally" with the requisite humor and wordplay, but also featuring food reviews, strong women negotiating friendships, secrets, and betrayal.
All these promotion "experts" on Instagram keep telling me to build my Goodreads presence, and get my book on Listopia.
This all sounds great, but I don't have a promotion budget, and I don't have the first idea how to accomplish these things. Can anyone help me? I promise to mutually back-scratch anyone who can assist.
Thanks so much,
Stephen A.
