Hi Friends! My name is Rachel. I'm a big nonfiction fan with most of my favorites surrounding health and history in some sort of way. If I'm not reading nonfiction, you can usually find me devouring some historical fiction.

Excited for this group!

message 6: by Mike (new)

Mike Everything in this group is Nonfiction on all kinds of topics.I also can't wait for the new historical fiction book to come out called"Go Tell The Bees I'm Gone" (Outlander 9).

YES! I just started the Outlander series this year and I am obsessed. Man, it's some good stuff.

Also, thank you for inviting me to the group!

message 8: by Mike (new)

Mike Your welcome.
I wouldn't bother watching the TV show "Outlander" though because they turn away from the books in season 4.

message 9: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Oh, that's dissappointing. I've watched through season 2 and part of season 3 and thought they did a pretty good job. Oh well, the book is always better anyway, right?

message 10: by Mike (new)

Mike It sure is.

message 11: by Jim (new)

Jim I'm Jim & I read a fair amount of nonfiction, mostly history & science in audiobook form backed up with the ebook. I'm the IT Dept for a small company during the day & have a small farm to take care of the rest of the time. Woodwork & various fiber arts are my other hobbies.

I'm interested to see what will be read & discussed here plus I know how tough it is to get & keep a group going.

message 12: by Mike (new)

Mike Trust me I know.Sometimes I get new members in the group and then they leave quicker than they joined without telling me what the problem is.
Everything I read in MBC is Nonfiction but different people like different Nonfiction books so I can't please everyone at once.

S. Daisy Hello. I'm Daisy, and I'm a comprehensive indie book editor, book reviewer, book blogger, book blurb writer, book reader, book author, book collector... well, you get the picture. I'm a mega-bibliophile, and I like books, haha.

Nonfiction is one of my favorite genres, but I am usually so busy with my editing and reviewing that unless it's a book that I'm editing/reviewing I often don't get to read stuff just for fun. And to me, reading the dictionary is fun. I love to learn.

message 14: by Mike (new)

Mike Hi,I also like learning.I read all kinds of nonfiction books.

message 15: by S. (new)

S. Daisy I can tell by the topic of your book group that that's the case, haha.

message 16: by Mike (new)

Mike Yeah.I just went off fiction because when you read to many of them they all seem predictable and similar to other books.

I like to read fiction, too, but you can usually learn more from nonfiction, haha.

message 18: by Mike (new)

Mike That's why I only read nonfiction in the group now. These days there's probably only 1 out of 100 fiction books I want to read.

message 19: by Richard (new)

Richard Foster Hi Mike. I’m Richard, originally from Rochdale in the north of England and now living on the south coast. I’ve always been drawn to real stories about people, places and the moments that shape us, which probably explains why I ended up writing my own memoir. I’ve come to appreciate the power of honest storytelling and the way books connect us. I’m looking forward to discovering new reads, joining discussions, and getting to know fellow history, and non‑fiction lovers.

Mike You're welcome

message 21: by Keith (new)

Keith Vargo Hi. I'm a niche writer focused on martial arts and fighting sports. I wrote for Black Belt magazine for nearly two decades and have a bunch of nonfiction books out. I'm currently trying to finish a three volume series on Japan's "kakutougi boom" era where fighting sports in Japan were as massively popular as arena rock in the 1970s. Anyway, I tend to both read and write mostly nonfiction, so this book club seems like a good hang out for me on GoodReads.
