Hi Owen,
Working with AIs all day as I do, I am acutely aware of how little I actually do know. But FWIW:
- I think that AIs are soon going to be taking over a large part of the legal profession, the way they are already taking over coding. They are perhaps 1-2 years behind.
- Some kinds of liberal arts degrees might in principle be more useful than technical degrees. We are entering the era of applied ethics and philosophy. But I suspect there will only be a limited number of jobs available, which will go to people who already have established track records.
- Robots will soon start making serious inroads into many kinds of technical trades, perhaps 2-4 years from now depending on the specific skill.
- The most secure jobs will be in the caring professions. I spent a pleasant hour at a party last weekend talking with a physio. She's one of the few people I've met recently who's absolutely not worried about losing her job to an AI/robot, and I think she's right.

If you were a 19 year old again ,like myself, do you think in our current epoch of artificial intelligence, there is a good r.o.i of a english Russell group law degree that isn’t warwick, UCL, Oxford, Cambridge?
What is your opinion on a liberal arts degree in this age of a.i?
I have no stem or technical skills and if I began a technical trade I think i would be given a wedgie on the first day?
What is your career advice to young people?
