No spice, but there is emotional tension. Cielo is gay, and his growing bond with O.G., the mysterious boy who appears aboard his boat, plays a major role in the story. The book is ultimately an adventure mystery rather than a romance.
I already send you an email, i try to download from NetGalley but there is no option for kobo. Thanks

I wanted to share my upcoming debut novel because it occupies a space in adventure fantasy that I personally struggle to find on BookTok: a story with a gay protagonist where the central plot isn’t romance.
A Particular Boy Among Air Particles follows Cielo, a sixteen-year-old who would rather spend his time reading about the world inside his wardrobe than conform to what is expected of him as a noble heir. When unexplained tremors begin shaking the foundations of his continent, he becomes convinced that the answers lie beyond his homeland.
In The Shell (the name of the world), travel between the continents has only been accomplished by a single explorer more than a century before the story begins. After discovering that explorer’s journals, Cielo leaves home and the (straight) life being built for him to uncover the source of the disturbances before they threaten the stability of the entire world.
Cielo is gay, and his relationship with his identity matters to the story. The central mystery is what is happening to The Shell and whether he can discover the cause before it is too late.
The worldbuilding and magic system are meant to be uncovered alongside the protagonist. Readers gradually piece together how the world works as Cielo travels farther from home and encounters things no one else has seen in generations.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, ARCs are currently available through NetGalley, StoryOrigin and BookSprout. You’re also welcome to message me directly if you’d like a copy.
