Interesting. I guess we all judge books by the first impression - the cover - if we don't know anything about the author in advance. How do you go about designing a cover for your own books? I've used a partnering service, but I'm not that happy about my first books cover.
My sister designed the cover for her first book, and had to fight with the publisher to keep it as-is. It definitely gives you an idea of what the book is about and the art is done well, if I do say so as her sister! She also believes that your cover art should make you curious about what the story is about, so you will pick it up and read it. She chooses books to read that way, too.
