Randy Money Hi, all.

Here we are heading into summer, and it's already time to consider our read for July. This time around, think authors whose last name starts with an L.

Thanks to Nancy, you can refer to this list for ideas:

https://stopyourekillingme.com/L_Auth...

Remember --
1. do not nominate your own books
2. if your book is chosen at the polls you are the moderator of that discussion, and finally
3. please be sure not to nominate any book that the group has read within the last two years as per the group's bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Nominations are open through June10.

Julie Jonathan Latimer(1906-1983) any of his William Crane novels or even better, his book Solomon's Vineyard - Another author who enjoyed writing about the sleazy side of life in the US is Jonathan Latimer. In his novel Solomon's Vineyard (1941), private eye Karl Craven aims to rescue a young heiress from the clutches of a weird cult. Apart from being an action-packed thriller, the novel contains open references to the detective's sex drive and allusions to, and a brief description of, kinky sexual practices. The novel was considered "too hot" for Latimer's American publishers, so was not published until 1950 in a heavily Bowdlerized version.

Nike Robin wrote: "Astrid Lindgren"

As much as I love Astrid Lindgren she has only written a few crime stories (wonderful!) but they are for children and I don't know if the group reads children's books.

Here are the few titles I know of and that has been translated into English. So fun to learn of the English name, in Swedish his name is Kalle Blomkvist. (Kalle is nick name for Karl/Carl and Blomkvist means BlossomTwig)

Bill Bergson Lives Dangerously
Bill Bergson, Master Detective
Bill Bergson and The White Rose Rescue

Nike The Preacher by Camilla Läckberg

(It's the second installment and the group has read the first. And either way, they can be read in non chronological order.)

I agree. We should stick to books for adults.

Hi, Lorelei.

Please pick one. If I were to add both to the poll, chances are they would split the vote.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I read and enjoyed her non-series book "The Cutting Season," but have always had the Edgar and Anthony winner Attica Locke's "Bluebird, Bluebird" on my TBR list. My nomination. Thanks.

Are these different/better than Cross Her Heart> Because that was almost a DNF for me, so cliched. BUT anyone can have a bad book.

Darrell Grotenhuis I saw the book is already read in 2014, but i want to nominate The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

If you stick around for the mysteries, please read number 1 in the very first message above. This one won't make the poll.

Randy Money Hi, all.

Nominations are closed. I hope to get the poll made in a couple of days. I'll notify everyone once it's finished.

Oh and, Darrell, 2014 is long enough ago that I don't see a problem with putting Larsson's novel in the poll.
