I grabbed it mainly for the title and the OwnVoices author, Darla. Sadly, the stories aren't really that gripping. 😢
Wonderful and informative review, Rosh. Glad to to there were a few four star stories. I can see why you would select this one. Too bad this collection didn’t give the reader more about Bulgarian life and culture.
Excellent review, Rosh. Seems too many stories diluted the collection altogether. Glad you were able to find some gems. 🤗💕
Glad you were still able to find a few that stood out even though it wasn’t quite a good match for you. Hopefully your next book is! Fantastic review💗
I am sorry that this wasn't your kind of book. It's nice that you liked at least some of the stories. Lovely and fair review, Rosh 🫶
I hope your next book will be better!
Will admit, don’t know much about Bulgaria. Though I do know they won Eurovision this year, and it was not even close.
Do you think that had there been less stories, giving them all a few more pages, would have helped? Because you say it just wasn’t your cup of tea. And with the stories feeling disjointed and aimless even as there’s no plot.
Anyway, good review, Rosh. Congrats for going out of your comfort zone with this one and hopefully you still got something out of it.
That's an interesting cover! Sounds like it was packed with too many stories, rather than letting fewer stories do their job. 33 is a lot of first-person narrative, even if you read only 2 per day. Great review, Rosh. 💖 While I like the Bulgarian aspect, I know I'd be bored with this style of narration.
Beautiful review Rosh! I think it's a book that really makes you think about what you would do in such a situation.
