Literally 5 minutes go I finished ‘a touch of ruin’ the hades x Persephone series. Just figuring out whether to cry & stare at my ceiling or read another to distract me from spiralling
I am reading Lord of the rings. I really like the world building, the characters and the story line.
I just finished A Court of Starlight and Frost! I am moving on to A Court of Sliver Flames later this week :)
Bloodguard by Cecy RobsonI am only 100 pages in, but I am very engaged! The plot has an interesting dynamic on trials, which I like!
I am starting this weekend with Lightlark, then Phantasma and Ruthless Vows. In last two weeks finished Two Twisted Crowns (5⭐) Zodiac Academy.0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4. (3-4⭐), War Hour and Long Live

I'm currently reading "The Oleander Sword" by Tasha Suri. It's the second book in "The Burning Kingdoms" trilogy. The third book comes out on the 12th of this month. I highly recommend it!Tropes: wlw, indian mythology/culture inspo, strong fmc, great magic system
@bookishlily Red Rising is on my TBR but I've mixed feelings on whether I'm gonna like it or not once I start it. What would you say is the best and the worst thing about it in your opinion?
@morwen Still don't have a lot to say about the second book, just started. But I would say that the first book as an intro, and beginning... it maybe be slow for some and just well balanced for others. I would say it makes sense (the pacing). The story is promising. the writing style is good and it just don't let you get bored. Plot after plots. A little bit of everything, but the whole plot is around dystopia and revolution. War and politics. Romance is just a "sugar square to sweeten your tea".
Hope it makes sense 🥲
Thanks! Seems like a perfect description to summarize the soul of a book without spoiling a single thing :D
Malice by John Gwynne. The writing style is 🚮(sorry, but it's true, and it has many " mistakes) But the plot saves the book. It's interesting
It's hard to get over how unedited are some books, I have mixed results with that :D must be one good plot if you are sticking with it

I'm a few chapters into When the Moon Hatched. It's not 'caught' me yet, so I'm finding it a bit of a slog!

I am currently reading Tempest of Wrath and Vengeance by Melissa K. Roehrich! If you like Dark Fantasy Romance, you should give this series a try! Rain of Shadows and Endings (Book 1) is still my #1 fantasy this year!
I'm one of those people that sometimes goes from book to book then back to the original book. Most of the time, its usually because I need a break from it, or something sad happens. Im going between When the Moon Hatched and Quicksilver. They both have me reading like crazy right now
I'm reading The Tale of Tales, or Entertainment for Little Ones by Giambattista Basile. This is 17th century collection of fairy tales; the original was written in the Neapolitan dialect of Italian. Very unusual variants of some famous fairy tales (Cinderella and Puss in Boots, for example.) Somehow they are both rude and poetic. And definitely not for "little ones".
I am currently reading a book called, Divided Allegiance, which is book 2 of the Deed of Pakksenarion series. I am not sure what I like most about it. I love the name, Pakksenarion, and I suppose I just like following the character to see what happens. I do not think the book is really crushing it on all the elements of story, but its enjoyable enough.
For me, it is homework. Of all the books I am aware of, Pakksenarion is the most like my own story, and so I am reading to see what it has. I think, I can safely say, no one will confuse us. For me, this is a long book, so it will take me a while to finish, and its book 2 of 3.
If you were interested in my story it is The Eye of Ebon. Languishing with no love....But I dont wish to spam ;)

I tried to read the first book when I was 12 or 13. The first thought that came to my mind about halfway through was that this book seemed to have been written by a retired sergeant or something. I later found out that the author had actually served in the US Army for a while. So this book helped me a lot with my self-esteem. After all, I guessed the author's former profession just by reading her book.
Still, the name Pakksenarion sounds cool. You can even swear with it, like "You, bloody Pakksenarrrrion!" But she was more often called Paks, as far as I remember. Because Paksi was the name her father called her, and she hated him, so she asked her friends to call her Paks, or something like that.
Yes, Mrs. Moon is/was a military type. Pakks is most common in the book. I already dont remember her father. But even that name is good enough.
The first novel length thing I ever wrote as during the time I was in the army, and....in it, I did have a lot more detail squad movements and survival skills. When I read this book, I do see a lot of similarities in it, particularly in army formation and an understanding of rank and what it means. I also see a lot of Mrs. Moon's dungeons and dragons influences in the story. It is easy to see that she was a gamer and a military type.
I was unware of this book until a beta reader of my first story said it had similarities, so....I went out to read it. I had some confusion though, as I thought the book was "the Deed of Pakksensarion" when in fact that is the title of three books combined together. I had that as a giant tome on my desk, but I did the audio book of the first one and wondered why it seemed so unfinished.
Now I get it. I only had book 1, sheepherders daughter. I am now reading divided allegiance, which is book 2.
I am actually wanting to know what Pakksenarion's 'deed' actually is. I am not sure it has shown up yet. But....I do like following the character. The book is not good at getting to the real conflict though. I am not sure what that is. Its more like....watch a character slowly become a Paladin. So...okay.
The book is older. Came out in the 1980's. Does it matter? A good book is a good book.
In the years since, there are additional Pakk's books, but I will probably stop at the third.
