I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the book! In regards to the stated age range of 8-12, publishers have to provide a very specific and narrow age range for classification/metadata. With something like fairy tales, which can be just as enjoyable for adults as they are for children, I would say it is more about required reading ability level than anything else.
