Debbie H Great review Rosh! I enjoyed this one too!

message 3: by Thibault (new)

Thibault Busschots Weird that for every positive, you also have something to argue against it. Though you do have some really good points. Strong female characters for example doesn’t have to mean that the men are cardboard cutout characters. Sorry it went a bit too wild and enthusiastic in the final quarter, but it’s clear this was still a blast. Sounds like this was written by a talented author who’s not afraid to challenge herself. Good review, Rosh.

message 4: by Canadian Jen (new)

Canadian Jen I'm not a fan of fantasy but glad this one was a good one for you - at least the 75%! Great review, Rosh

Shelley's Book Nook Outstanding review, Rosh. Even when books (the electronic or tree kind) have maps or family trees I find myself flipping back and forth. I get what a pain that is. 🤗💕😆

Jayme C (Brunetteslikebookstoo) Love the review! ❤️

message 7: by Esta (new)

Esta Okay witchy feminist fantasy is absolutely up my alley! This sounds so appealing?! Also a bit dystopian? Exceptional review dear Rosh, I’m happy the overall tilt was positive for you! I’ll be investigating this for sure ❤️🥰

message 8: by Jonas (new)

Jonas Fantastic review, Rosh!

message 9: by Faerie (new)

Susan Kay This sounds so good! Great review, Rosh!

message 11: by Tina (new)

Tina Ooh love the sound of this! I can take the last 25% being wild if the first 75% was fantastic! A fabulous review Rosh 💖

message 12: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn Thornton Glad you enjoyed this one, Rosh!

message 13: by AG (I'm back!) (new)

AG (I'm back!) I also usually stop caring about complicated family trees and choose to go with the flow :) This doesn't quite seem like a perfect read, but I love multigenerational stories (especially about magical families). I'll be checking this out! Wonderful review!!

message 14: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I’m digging the ✔️❌ format of this review, Rosh. Too bad it went a little wild at the end. 🖤

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Fantastic review, sweet Rosh!! 🥰❤️😘 I'm so happy you enjoyed it, even though the ending was a letdown!! 💗💗

message 17: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Even with the remarkable LaVoy, I think I'd read this one. Informative review Rosh.

message 18: by Srivalli (new)

Srivalli (Semi-Hiatus) Now that's a really balanced review, lol. Been a while since you had a book like this, right?
Whoever thought it was a good idea to club all backstories together in a single chapter and plonk it into the plot?
Still, it has many good things, too, so I might give it a chance. eyeball reading obviously.
Terrific review, Rosh. 💖

Rachel Elizabeth This sounds really interesting - great review Rosh!

message 20: by Mai (new)

Mai H. Oh very interested in this

message 21: by A (new)

A Mac It's so interesting that every positive had a somewhat negative thing associated with it, though it's clear the positives still won. I'd be in the same boat as you though, not willing to open up that PDF every time it's needed to clear things up. Very helpful review, Rosh!

message 22: by Kealyn (new)

Kealyn Oh you really drew me into this book. Stunning review Rosh. ♥ It's been awhile since I read a good book about witches. ♥

message 23: by Cara (new)

Yeah, it was a strange experience to have balanced points on both sides of the scale and still ending up enjoying the book. 😅
Sadly, many women-oriented novels end up writing cardboard cutout men, just as many action thrillers have only a stereotypical depiction of women. Realism works so much better!
Thank you, Thibault. This is an author I'd love to read again.

Thanks so much, Shelley! 💖 Right? At least in my physical books, I can pop in another bookmark on the relevant pages. But in the digital edition, it's a nuisance to navigate back and forth. 😬

Going with the flow is so much easier on the patience. 😅
Thanks, AG! 💖 Given your fondness for multi-generational stories and magical realism, I think you'll enjoy this one.

Oh yes, it's been quite some time since I wrote ✔️ and ❌ for a review. But this one used that format easily.
I swear! It was even worse on audio. I hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it, Sri.
Thank you! 💖

message 45: by Dutchie (new)

Dutchie Terrific review, Rosh! Sorry, the ending was a bit of a letdown but glad it was enjoyable up until that point. I did get a chuckle about the PDF.

message 46: by Nat (new)

Nat Very interesting! I personally don’t like a book that centres around witches, I think this is the only kind of supernatural creatures/beings which I steer clear of lol. But the premise is interesting, and I like how you described your mix feelings with each point! Glad this was still a good one 💗
