Shelley's Book Nook Beautiful review, Rosh. I have this on my TBR. I recommend The Secret of Snow if you haven't read it yet. 🤗💕

message 5: by Barbara (new)

Barbara I had my husband read it. He's a thriller reader...very boy-like books, and he found it touching. I was very moved by it. Glad that it didn't put you in the PTSD mode.

message 6: by Tina (new)

Tina Thanks for the warning that it's bleak. It still sounds like something I'd like too. Great review Rosh!

message 19: by Thibault (new)

Thibault Busschots Seems like your personal experience didn’t work against this heartbreaking read after all. It’s clear you experienced many emotions and you indeed have so many interesting things to say after reading it. It does make you feel very vulnerable, doesn’t it? Glad it was the right read at the right time for you. Great review, Rosh.

message 20: by Karen (new)

Karen How do I describe a book that is almost like one endless flow of thought? That depicts the strength of the aged despite their frailty? That offers a hint of what might await us a few decades down the line?

You did it beautifully, Rosh. Just a beautiful review of a heart-felt book. Thank you. ☺️So sorry to hear about what is going on for you personally with your parents. I can totally relate. Sending hugs. 🤗

message 21: by Jsiva (new)

Jsiva Dear Rosh, I feel you as I start on this journey with my own parents. Heartbreakingly, it seems like my mom is in the early stages of I don't know what yet because just trying to get her tested is proving an arduous task where she needs to advocate for herself.. but with her memory going... how is she aware what is changing? I think I will need to find the right time and mind space to read this book but I'm very touched by your review. Wishing you strength, patience and peace of mind.

message 22: by Srivalli (new)

Srivalli (Semi-Hiatus) Aww... hugs, girl. 💖
Sounds like the author wrote it beautifully, taking care to be respectful while ensuring we get the additional details too. I have this in my TBR, so happy to see your review. Kind of gives me the Ferryman vibes with the narrative style, so that helps. I'll know when I can read this.
Brilliant review, Rosh.

message 27: by Saranya (new)

Saranya [break] You always find the most poignant stories about people history which many tend to overlook. This is such a profound and vulnerable review! Bo’s heartbreak with sympathy for Hans sounds really difficult. Sending you a lot of strength and hugs, Rosh!!❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹
