I am so glad that you made this post and comment regarding the book. When I first read the word man, I love almost every moment of it except some of the side characters, I could not care at all. Even the second book of the nightfall saga, I could not see myself enjoying the series at all the whole idea behind Olive and her picking a gender just frustrated me so much it takes away the important aspect of a character.
I would’ve been totally fine if she was just a normal girl.
But again, I feel like the character development just felt short and boring and bland.
Arlen Bales to me, felt very relatable authentic as well and the way it ended was a chefs kiss.

So I think I will finish the series despite knowing that I’ll be a bit disappointed, but I’ll try to keep an open mind on these things

Fair review, though if I had ended things with Hidden Queen, those other storylines would have still remained mostly open. This scenery shift was in the works for a decade, and a lot of readers were asking for it. Happy to answer all your questions about where everyone ended up if you like. The answers are canon, if not on the page.
