Laxmama Thank you for sparing me this trash. I would have been just as annoyed

Anna lost in stories *A* Thank you so much for your detailed review, I'm sorry you didn't like it but thanks to you I know to avoid this story because it would piss me out like it did you... Hopefully your next read will be better :)

message 3: by Geri Reads (new)

Geri Reads Omg. They've done this type of story before and I can't believe they did it again. Sigh. Anyways, thanks for saving me from ever trying their books again.

Dilek VT OMG, this is such a frustrating book and it has elements that are similar to the ones in Playboy Pilot. The absurdity and ridiculousness of things like seeing the rainbow and thinking about his ex reminded me of the "playboy pilot" who would do similar things. He went to a clairvoyant to find out where he can find the heroine (not a detective but a clairvoyant) !!!! And the clairvoyant said the answer was in the skies so he went to his ex's grave as her soul was in the skies and he searched the answers to the whereabouts of the heroine by his ex's grave!!!

These writers are so repeating themselves that it is getting more and more annoying. I am so happy that I didn't read this book yet and came across your review. I would like to share it if you don't mind as it is an awesome review with so much useful information...

The way you explain it makes it crystal clear that this is not my type of romance; it sounds more like a romance book between the Hero and his ex, not the heroine at all :(

It’s funny because I read about something like this in one of their books before in a review, and decided not to read that book because of it! Then what do you know I pretty much get to read it anyway!

Feel free to share! It was definitely frustrating and the more of the books I read by these authors, the more I feel like I’m reading the same thing over and over!

message 8: by Kim (new)

Kim Beez I started reading (listening to audiobook) and couldn't get into it. So I decided to read the reviews to see whether is was worth persisting. So much conversation about that time of the month and being sexually harrassed by the boy at school. Its not cute. Who does that and who doesn't go down to the school and get the kid suspended. Cringe factor 10. Can't relate to any of this. I thought we were going to "Park Avenue" and he was going to be a "Player".

message 9: by aqsa (new)

aqsa oh my god I was literally just about to read this book but I'm so glad I read your review instead! I had the same problem w/these authors pulling similar/stupid shit with their past duology (which was AWFUL). I did enjoy some of their past standalones but they've been on some awful streak for a long time now and it's completely put me off from their books like Im like honestly questioning if they even know how to write romance lol. what a waste too because the cover was kinda hot. oh well. great review!

message 10: by Kbook (new)

Kbook Thank you for saving me from wasting my time on what sounds like a complete shitshow!

message 12: by Mtve41 (new)

Mtve41 Great review Jamie! I was about to try this but thankfully won't be wasting precious hours of my life! I haven't touched anything from Vi Keeland since Hate Notes that was just as bad! I don't know if in all honestly her brain has taken a hike. Who would write such a half assed romance novel. What does it achieve. Sadness and regret? The h is to accept that she would always be second place for the H! And she has some nerve to name her son after the ex. Doesn't ever happen in real life that way.

Thank you!! I’ve read a couple by her and none were all that great! I saw in another review that the authors replied to them when they messaged them and said that they will never know if he would’ve chosen his ex because she died. I actually laughed out loud because they’re the ones who wrote it, how do they not know!! These authors always like to defend what they’ve written by saying it’s realistic! One, it’s a fiction romance I didn’t come for realism and two, just like you said, nobody is going to name their child after the husbands ex!!

It definitely wasn’t worth it to me! A complete waste of time because all it did was make me mad, not really how I want to feel after reading a romance novel!

message 17: by BleuBelle (new)

BleuBelle Great review. Thanks for the heads up. I have no idea how this can described as "romance".

message 18: by Rejane (new)

Rejane What a bunch of crap. Thank you so much for the spoilers. I hate so much this ex/dead drama. It’s like you said, the fmc is always second best.

message 19: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Ah, bless. Good on ya for making it through. Had I been the h I would have run for the hills and waited to meet someone worthy who wouldn't forever remind me I was a substitute. But then again, I'm smart and know I deserve someone who puts me first, while this heroine is a fool with no self-worth. Awesome review.

message 20: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra K Awesome review! I completely agrees with you and I didn’t feel the H and h connected at all, and h was forever waiting for H to notice her or take action. I did not approve their game of panties as I thought it was all one sided from h. How humiliating!!!

Anyway, this is my least favourite of the book written by Keeland and Ward. I really liked some of the books the duo wrote. I particularly like Keeland’s writing.
Even though I agree with your review, I’m not sure it would stopped me from reading as the overall rating is 4.3 and I order pretty much everything the two of them write. I think I’ll be more selective from now on. I just wish romance writers will stop writing about plots with a baby or death. I also dislike 2nd chance!!!

message 21: by MJ (new)

MJ Great review. Thanks for the details. Sounds like the heroine became the runner up to her best friend. Lame! Thanks to you I can DNF this one.

Just a Little Reading & Reviewing Thanks for the spoilers! I don't mind ex drama as long as it's made crystal clear that the h is not second best. No way would I be able to stomach this story!

message 23: by mel ☽ (last edited Oct 03, 2019 04:08PM) (new)

mel ☽ omg yes thank YOU! i was going to read this because i have a love-hate relationship with ex drama but only because sometimes it comes with grovelling or the H REALLY shows he loves the h and she's number one (like, Sweet Dreams by KA and Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young) and those are my favorite parts so that's why ex drama is a guilty pleasure of mine! and from your review, i can tell imma be really frustrated so i think imma pass this but thanks for the spoiler! :)

ftnrsnn Authors that I WILL FOREVER AVOID especially PENELOPE WARD!!!
One book from her is enough to ruin my life.
NEVER AGAIN!

message 26: by Maheswari (new)

Maheswari Thank you thank you for your great review - you save me the other book we’re called mr MB - oh dear I die of insanity reading it

message 27: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I'll be skipping this one.. the ow drama seems over the top and not what I'm looking for in a romance book.

message 28: by Mel (new)

Mel Yep..... EXACTLY how I felt. When he took off from work for 2 weeks, lied about it, b.c. he needed to be alone and Elodie understood...I literally had to put the book down and take a breath. No ma'am!!

message 29: by Arwinder (new)

Arwinder Thanks for saving me from time and energy lost! My God, we can't seem to find anything wow nowadays...

message 30: by Nina (new)

Nina Salvati You wrote all the things that I wanted to say... I was so disappointed by this book... the fact that Bree was “his” Anna... unbelievable :/

message 31: by JP (new)

message 32: by Joanne (new)

message 33: by Ana Tereza (new)

Ana Tereza Ferreira I was reading, but I didn’t like the scene with the thong and the thing boss/nanny it’s wrong from my point of view so a came and read your review that show me I was right about this book. Amazing review!

message 34: by Judith (new)

Judith Holder Really good review, Jamie. . I'd give this book a two star because I didn't see any obvious misspellings. As for the story line: terrible. H is a gutless wonder and h is a wimp who didn't pay attention in her psych classes. I would consider this a $$ book. The authors wrote it for the $$ not the story. After each chapter, I thought: gotta get better. Didn't. Don't waste your time or intellect.

message 35: by Rhella (new)

Rhella 85% done and your review has helped me DNF this book. I would have lost my mind had I actually read that epilogue myself, so thank you for saving me from literally going insane!!!

That’s what I love about ex drama! I feel like it’s a perfect opportunity for the H to show he really loved the h and doesn’t care about the ex! I’ll have to check those two books out because I think I would like them!

message 47: by M (new)

M J I should have read this before. Anna ruined the whole book for me. I hated how it became about her.

message 48: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Thanks for your review, nope can definitely say this is not the story for me 🙈

Steppie Reads Books Oh boy, THANK YOU for your review. I'm skipping this one. It sounds awful. I hate it already, and I just read your review.

message 50: by Heroesinbooks (new)

Heroesinbooks Oh no☹️ I can’t bear it when our H or h comes in second best. Thanks for the review. I’ll skip this I think.
