Alexandra (busy and off GR for a few days) I've heard of this short story, but I haven't read it yet 😉 A most excellent review, Federico!

Yes, it's a famous one! I got to it thanks to one of many collections I've read recently. Does live to the hype methinks. Thank you Alexandra!

Thibault Busschots Seeing as AI is all the rage right now, this seems like a great light horror snack. Good review, Federico.

Maybe this could be our future someday, who knows :x. Thank you Thibault!

Darla Sounds like Ellison really packed a punch into those sixteen pages. An intriguing review, Federico. Considering your three stars, a 'silver' ending does sound appropriate.🥈

Gotta love a good shortie <3 ! Many people enjoyed it much more than I did I think :p. Thank you Darla!

Jayme C (Brunetteslikebookstoo) I’m not much of a horror fan, but I have enjoyed a few books featuring AI. An intriguing review!

Actually I believe this was my second, If I'm not mistaken I think I read 'The Whimper of Whipped Dogs' first, on another collection :p. Thank you Amina <3 !

Grace Nettleton I love finding good short stories; they’re rare to come across but it’s always worth it when you find a good one. Sounds like a decent read, might have to check it out sometime. Good review :)

Debra Great review, Federico!

Nancy (post-vacation catch up) At 16 pages, it’s definitely a quick snack! You’re always introducing me to authors I’ve never heard of, and I love that. Another wonderful review, Fede! 🫶🏻

I've found many over time. I have them all in my Best Short Stories shelf. Which should include this one, but for some reason I didn't (?). Thank you Nick! And hope you enjoy it too someday :)

Luna Though AI has made me a ton of money it really does scare the hell out of me. Still maintain that within as little as a decade most of us will be saying how did we allow this to happen. Money is nothing really in comparison to what may be AI's outcome :)

That's how it starts. Skynet was efficiently friendly once :p. Thank you Luna!

Rosh (on a medical break) Good to see that this snack turned out to be delectable! 'Really good for what it is' is also good enough; not every story can be a favourite. 😊 Wonderful review, Feddie! 🤍

message 30: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Carey Since it's a short story I think I can handle it even though you describe it as a horror shortie. Always on the look out for a good short story or novella.

Thank you for your recommendation.

AI makes for some deep thinking as well as incredible discussions.

My virtual book club in fact will be reading Culpability by Bruce Holsinger for our early December read. I saw him interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on YouTube and thought it would make for an incredible discussion. It evidently is how AI effected an entire family. It sounds so compelling.

message 37: by Taufiq (new)

Taufiq Yves Love how you called it a “tasty horror snack” - perfect description! It’s short, unsettling, and weirdly memorable. Ellison knew how to twist the knife.

Dee (in the Desert) he was so brilliant - will have to check this one out!
