Now I haven’t memorized a verse today but I want to share, The first verse that was ever given to me at 14 years old was Isaiah 64:6 “your righteousness is like filthy rags”. I thought he was a crazy old kook and maybe thought about it once before going to bed that night and don’t remember thinking about it again until 10 years later I heard the gospel for the first time and remembered that verse word for word and the address. I was amazed that I remembered all of it and the address, which is amazing to me because I struggled memorizing anything in school. I believe that God has given me this verse to open my eyes and save me. As well as a love for His word.

I'm working on memorizing all of Romans 8. I've memorized the first 8 verses, verse 28 (I've known for as long as I can remember) and the end. I can almost get all the way through it, but I really have a passion for that chapter so I want to know all of it word for word.
Sometimes, a bible verse comes to my mind, and then later on in the day, or the next day, someone will quote that verse. I sure do pay extra attention then!

Is anyone still attempting to memorize Scripture? If yes, what is your method? Mine is to tape it to the wall that I look at the most, or to some place where I sit more often. What's your method of memorizing Scripture?
I just started doing this. I bought this book on Amazon for about $10 and it has verses on little tear off squares. So far I’ve memorized 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Galatians 2:20. I really want to make this a regular part of my devotional life.

Currently I'm trying to go with one psalm a week and went with some other passages as well. During the first day of the week I memorize it all and during the upcoming days I repeat it out loudly, just with the lips or in my mind- while on the bus, in my bed, walking or doing something not mind-engaging...If I forget a portion of the chapter I focus on memorizing it better. If I know it full, I am going with other passages memorized in the past, This last week I went with psalm 62.
That's amazing, Gabi! Keep up the good work, it will make you a strong Christian soldier for Jesus Christ, and help you fight the good fight.

Yes, it's a work that requires some time but it's very satisfying...to be full of God's Word :D I bless you with Colossinans 1:9-12 Also, I am memorizing psalm 50 this week.
Colossians 1:9-12:9] For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;[10] That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
[11] Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
[12] Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Thank you so much, Gabi! I need that prayer, all of it, thank you, and God bless you, too!!

Are those the Navigator cards for memorization?? I have used those for years. They work when you work them. I use the Navigator "cards" online with the Remem.me app. It tracks how well I've memorized each verse and makes me refresh the verses.
No, I'm not familiar with Navigator cards. Sorry. I am old-fashioned, I guess. I just get a pen and paper, and write the verse from the KJ bible.
Loved this whole scripture thread. I've been dealing with being soul-deep-discouraged as an author.Here is my verse...
Praise the Lord; praise our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms. Psalms 68:19
Thank you. And I'd love to have you, people who are thinking on the Word in such a way, be my friends on Goodreads. I'm kind of a newbie on here.
One of my favorites,Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22 NIV)
I haven't memorized verses this year since we graduated my homeschooler last year (we memorized verses as part of her schooling in English and Spanish). I'm going to start today with the verse of the day in the Bible app I use. Today's verse is: Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. I Chron. 16:10 NIV.
I always like reciting 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of love and of a sound mind.” (NKJV).So encouraging during times of anxiety!
My 10 yr old and myself started working on 1 Corinthians 13. Our goal for this year (2024) is to memorize 1 Corinthians 13 and Romans 8.
Luke 6:37 Judge not and you will not be judged; condemn not and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven.
Today I'm memorizing James 1:19-20 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
Romans Chapter 1119 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Tobit 12:9-10For almsgiving saves from death and purges away every sin. Those who give alms will enjoy a full life, 10 but those who commit sin and do wrong are their own worst enemies.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIVFor I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
“On my bed I remember you;I think of you through the watches
of the night.
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
your right hand upholds me.”
- Psalm 63:6-8
Isaiah 12:2 “Behold, God is my salvation;I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
I want to memorise the whole Psalm 119, and I memorised first 8 verses. But also I want to memorise the whole Philipines. Just need to start.Thank you for this....
One passage that has stayed with me is Philippians 4:11–13.What really stood out to me over time is how the context shifts the meaning—Paul is speaking about learning contentment in all circumstances, whether in abundance or in need.
It gave me a different perspective on what “I can do all things” really means—not just accomplishing anything, but enduring everything through Messiah.
