I just found a copy of this book at the library book sale and bought it! Read it in college but need to re-read it.

My situation exactly! Except replace "library book sale" with "hunted around on eBay to find the same edition I had back then but loaned to an ex-girlfriend and never got back."
'Franny and Zooey' is the Salinger book that sticks with me--along with some the stories in 9 Stories--in the sense that I have recurring visions of actually being in the room with the characters while they are talking. And Salinger characters mostly talk. I once named our cats (who were brother and sister) after these siblings. And Franny remains in my memory as my favorite cat; she spent a lot of time on the couch.
