I recommend my book, Janie's Prayer and Our Lady's Message/by Joy Ruli Domanguehttps://www.amazon.com/Janies-Prayer-...
Set in the 1980's, this is a Catholic story of family, overcoming grief, friendship, forgiveness, sacrifice and spiritual growth.
Capturing the nostalgia of the 1980's, "Janie's Prayer" borders on historical fiction when Janie suddenly finds herself in Fatima in the year 1917. All of the Fatima references in the book are accurate. The words in quotes have been taken from the writings of Blessed Lucia herself.
Thanks for the recomendation, I will consider using it as on of our upcoming books, I was also thinking maybe The Diary of a Country Priest, Manalive, or Brideshead Revisited. What do you all think?
You're welcome. Great! I think that The Diary of a Country Priest sounds interesting. I might like to read that.
I love Diary of a Country Priest! I was also just thinking The Spear would be good for a Lenten read, I is a novel about the Crucifixion told through the eyes of the soldier who thrust his spear into Christ's side, It is also really good
I’ve not heard of “Diary of a Country Priest” but I’m game! I love “Brideshead Revisited” too. I’ve read that a few times, great book! I might suggest for the list “Death Comes for the Archbishop,” by Willa Cather.
I’m game for all suggestions listed thus far. I’m actually not too familiar with Catholic fiction as I mainly am always reading Catholic nonfiction titles. I’m looking forward to discovering much more in the fiction genre.
Please vote on what book you would like to read next for this club, the voting is closing tomorrow at midnight
Diary of a Country Priest won, with 3 votes, The spear had 2 votes and the rest had 0I would recomend the translation by Michael R. Tobin
I say we should read Hail Holy Queen by Scott Hahn which connects the Bible to all the Marian Doctrines.https://www.amazon.com/Hail-Holy-Quee...
That sounds like a great book, Hudson, but I don't think it's considered fiction. Once again, I recommend my book "Janie's Prayer and Our Lady's Message" for either the month of April or May especially. Be sure to request it at your local library. It is already in one library that I know of.https://www.amazon.com/Janies-Prayer-...
both of those do sound amazing! I will add both of them to my to be read list, Hudson's book does not sound like fiction, but it does sound like a great book!
