Wow! Thanks!I didn’t think Ryan Gosling was the guy, but … Hollywood. She doesn’t look like the best for the administrator of the project, but … Hollywood. It does look better than I expected when I heard the casting.
I still say, Project Hail Mary is the best techno-thriller book of all time. The Best Technothrillers Ever list has it rated about #200+ since I am possibly the only one to vote for it. That list … obsolete. It’s part of why I started a new set of lists for best technothrillers, even though hardly anyone is using them yet. Maybe everyone is on their phone these days, and using the phone app … because their phone prompts them to … because that’s often better and more interactive than the web site … except in this case. You can’t even see half the content on the terrible Goodreads phone app, and what you can see is formatted very badly. You cannot vote on book lists from the app. WTH?! Yeah, … and book groups like this … look terrible on the app. Can’t see or find stuff. I digress. Head-shaking tragedy. If you just use your phone browser instead, and scroll down to the bottom of the page to select desktop view/version, then … it’s OK. Night and day.
Yeah, not sure about the administrator either! I envisioned someone really icy I think.I should know this, but where do I find the new lists?

Nice! Ryan is funnier in this clip than I remember the character in the book being. It's been a couple years, I really liked the book after it got past the "banging his head on the ladder" bit at the start. :)
Leading question - I really like the Alex Garland 2007 movie 'Sunshine' - one of my favs actually, an edgy techno thriller / sci fi / philosophical journey with notes of horror thrown in (ticks all my boxes). Hail Mary - the basic premise seems very similar but with cutesy aliens and 'Ken from barbie' thrown in - like 'Disney does Sunshine'. That thought, like a dying sun, leaves me feeling a bit cold about going to see it. I am happy to be proven wrong and 'give it a go' - thoughts / guidance welcome.
