To be a series on Goodreads, books need to have more than a common theme -- like characters in common, an overarching storyline, a shared universe, etc.

How are these books connected?

They are part of a shared universe. All characters live in the same world and time period. There is a returning character in the second book, and there will be many more returning characters in later books.
