Brenda Jools you're welcome to post about Angela Marsons again - the red "new" posts is back, so I thought a new thread would fix it :)

Niamh My great-grandmother passed away last week, and today was her funeral. Her parting words to all gathered, shared as a video, were "Do what you want, when you want, and tell everyone else where to stick it!" It was a great way for the service to end, it really cheered everyone up.

PattyMacDotComma I only just discovered an Aussie podcast called CrimeClub that you can listen to or watch on YouTube.

Goodreads doesn't allow links, but if you google QBD CrimeClub, you'll find the page with the interviews and photos of the authors so you can put a face to the name.
Or delete the spaces after each of the 4 dots for the link.

https: //www. qbd. com. au/crimeclub/

Kathy Reichs, Mick Herron, many Aussies chat. The sound is sometimes dodgy, but good otherwise.

Karren Sandercock Any Goodreads librarians be able to add a book for me please, It's Probably You by Jayne Denker, and it's released on the 3rd of January 2024 and the ISBN number is 9781761423260. Thanks so much, Karren.

message 15: by Brenda (new)

Brenda It's in the database Karren, searching via ISBN. It's Probably You

For future reference, we have a Librarian's chat thread where these requests are made and completed. Please use this one next time: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Thanks :)

message 16: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne I went to see Trent Dalton yesterday at a Dymocks lunch. He is such a good speaker. He told us the sad story behind Boy Swallows Universe and had half the audience in tears! Watch out for the series on Netflix.
Monday week I will be seeing Richard Osman. Can't wait!!!

message 17: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Sounds entertaining Phrynne! We're lucky to have so much talent around, both in Australia and those who are happy to visit us.

message 18: by Carolyn (last edited Nov 02, 2023 05:13PM) (new)

Carolyn That would have been great Phrynne. I can imagine Trent Dalton would be an excellent speaker - he always wears his heart on his sleeve. I'm sure Richard Osman will be very entertaining, so you'll definitely enjoy that lunch too!

message 19: by Marianne (new)

Marianne DH and I are coming to the Richard Osman lunch too, will wave if I spot you, Phrynne

Brenda One huge plus Phrynne!

Marianne At the Richard Osman Dymocks Literary Lunch with Richard Glover interviewing. And a delicious dessert.

message 24: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne That dessert was delicious! And Osman was very entertaining:) I especially enjoyed his stories about his mother and her colleagues in the retirement home!

message 25: by Phrynne (new)

message 29: by Phrynne (new)

Carolyn Usually I've read a few books in a few sections of the Goodreads Choice Awards, but this year I've hardly read any and those I have I don't want to vote for. How's every one else finding the selections?

I felt like I recognised a greater proportion of the nominees this year, but still had not read very many. I think I voted in 2-3 categories.

I voted in two categories, but both were for the same book. Some books are on my TBR list, but most I have never heard of!

I voted for two books, one mystery, one fantasy. There were a few titles I have on my TBR and a few I recognised but have not planned to read.

I recognise a few titles and covers, but I wouldn't vote for the one I read, and the other I haven't read yet.

The bubbly will wait until we are properly moved in. But yes, it's a big step forward, one we were hoping to take in February...
