I remember when it first came out. I was teaching a creative writing course. The book was all the rage. People (mostly women) were proud to say and be seen reading it. It baffled me; but looking back it was part of a movement- the “Sex in the City” movement. And here we are. I have read the male equivalent. My own version of “worst book ever written.” There are a lot of them now. It’d be interesting to hear what some of those fans think now, 15 years later.
