Sounds like it should’ve stuck to being a picture book.
An excellent review/critique of the novel, Rosh. I am always so disappointed when ownvoices don't work for me. 🤗💕
I agree. Helpful notes/glossary/family tree etc belong at the beginning. Especially in digital form.
Shame this wasn’t as good as frühstück. The concept of the mythology was clearly there to be turned into a success. And food is a great way to explore a new culture. It can be a bold choice to not provide more details in terms of the non-English words. That does seem to say that it targets native readers more. Which is a respectable choice. But if there’s too many of them, it can alienate an English-speaking audience. Fair and honest review of a seemingly too complex read, Rosh.
Sometimes leaving plot points ambiguous isn’t the right move. And it seems like that happens here. Sorry it was quite a disappointing one; I agree that dialogues should be more concise in this form of storytelling. Fantastic review, Rosh💖
That's a combination I haven't seen before, but looks like it needs some work. Graphic novels cannot be wordy. That kinda defeats the purpose of having a graphic novel, imo.
Sorry this one didn't deliver. Great review, Rosh. 💝
