Mark Porton What am enthusiastic review Kimber!! An aside, you've never struck me as a 'mutterer' - but maybe that's a conversation of another day. Great review 🤗🎈

Kevin Ansbro Oh, là là, Kimber!
What a wonderful review, mon amie.

Daphne du Maurier whispers to me quite often, and I can confirm that she is quite the gossip! : )

Say it ain't so, Kevin! I never pegged du Maurier as a gossiper.😆

Candi It's difficult for me to explain to people how much I adore this book when they ask me what it's about :D But anyone that has read du Maurier would understand! I'm glad you made it through those first 40 pages and found such pleasure in reading this. Marvelous review, Kimber!

Antoinette Fantastic review, Kimber. I need to read another du Maurier soon. Your review has me chomping at the bit.

Jonas Absolutely fantastic review, Kimber. I love how your love of her work radiates from your review. I love how you described the switch flicking on page 42 and how things took off. I will be adding this one and now I know what to expect, and I expect to love it.

Ceecee Great review Kimber - D du M is a huge favourite of mine 💕

Pia G. I’ve read Rebecca and Jamaica Inn and both made me admire du Maurier’s gift for atmosphere, tension and unforgettable emotion. Your review makes Frenchman’s Creek sound just as immersive and compelling. I especially loved the way you described that moment when the story suddenly shifts and pulls you in completely. I always think of these kinds of stories as little surprise eggs, where you never quite know what’s waiting inside.☺️

message 21: by Ron (new)

Ron You write a great review Kimber, but I also like to see the list of bookshelf descriptions you use too - also says so much about the book!

Both "Rebecca" and "Jamaica Inn" are excellent books. I'm glad you enjoyed them too. Your phrase "little surprise eggs" is well put! This story was certainly a different type of tale from du Maurier, but it was wonderful nonetheless. Thank you for your thoughtful comment, Pia!
