Lesle I woke up this morning to let Luna out and about had a heart attack!

It is a balmy 13℉ with a rather brisk wind chill of -4℉
We have a nice coating of snow down a good 2-3 inches as it is blowing and they expect us to have 3-4" more by mid-morning.

We have a Cold weather - Advisory
from Mon, Jan 26, 12:00 AM EST to Mon, Jan 26, 6:00 PM EST
with negative numbers overnight.

Thank goodness for fleece lined pants and my electric warm throw blanket. Cup of hot Blackberry Tea and all is good while I work more on the groups page!

Christine Hatfield I’m ready for warmer weather

message 4: by Sean (new)

Sean Peters (A Good Thriller) I hate the cold weather.

˜”*°•.˜”*°• Sheri •°*”˜.•°*”˜ I like colder weather. I live in NC where the summertime humidity is killer. I woke to maybe 2 inches of snow with an under, very thin, layer of ice. No allergies, no bugs, no need to sweat unless it's caused by my electric blanket. My kind of weather.

message 6: by PamG (new)

PamG I prefer outside temperatures around 60 degrees F. I lived in Georgia for 18 years and had enough heat and humidity. Unfortunately, you can't get away from it, even in Minnesota. At least it isn't as bad as GA.

Christine Hatfield Sean wrote: "I hate the cold weather."

I hate cold weather too Sean

message 8: by Lesle (new)

Lesle I love warmer. 70s to low 80s are my favorite with blue blue sky and sunshine.

The deer keep coming down the hill to get their apples! Squirrels and birds all love sunflower seeds. If they leave anything the deer will finish it off after the apples.

I had a Pileated Woodpecker this morning at the feeder, Sunflower and suet.

11+ inches of snow is enough!!

message 9: by Carolyn (last edited Jan 25, 2026 06:42PM) (new)

Carolyn At the moment I would love some cold weather!

I'm in Sydney, Australia and yesterday is was 42C (108F) here and even hotter inland and in South Australia and Victoria, where they are have some really bad bushfires. Meanwhile northern Australia is suffering from cyclones and flooding and here we have to put out bowls of waters for the birds to keep them hydrated. Can't wait for summer to end!

PamG Announcement to our members:

The wave of deleting our Direct Message "Reply" buttons has started. It started yesterday and now more are finding theirs is gone as well.

Right now some cannot post a new comment in the Group without the lovely Pink Box Error.

The only thing I have found that works then is you can edit a prior message. However, once I get the Pink Box Error and wait an hour or so, I have been able to post new comments.

We know this can be very irritating for you. Hopefully, the updates will be completed quickly. We will let you know if/when we learn more.

message 11: by Carolyn (last edited Jan 27, 2026 05:07PM) (new)

Carolyn Members who want to keep in touch with particular GR friends should think about swapping email addresses (privately) or details of other social media sites you use.
You could try to do this with Pam's suggestion of editing a previous DM (and crossing your fingers!)

message 12: by Carol (new)

Carol hey, All. Lesle is having technical GR difficulties tonight. She gets error messages when she tries to post sny comments. we’re hopeful the site is just overwhelmed and this glitch will be a fading memory. tomorrow ET.,

message 13: by Josh (new)

Josh Douglas I live in Taiwan, last weekend it was pretty cold. About 74 f. I went swimming in a lone river deep in a jungle valley. The wind was up so I found myself slightly cool so I built a fire to warm up. Found otter prints. Taiwan has a species of otter, small runts compared to their Amazonian brethren.

Lesle The girls come down the hill this time of day to look for the dark brown bean pods from the Honey Locust tree that is across the road. Not sure if your familiar with them. They look purplish to me. The love them. 13 all girls hanging out together.

13-Girls-looking-for-their-Honey-Locust-Bean-Pods

message 19: by PamG (new)

PamG Fabulous photo, Lesle! We've only had two or three deer showing up this winter.

A lovely view to have Lesle. Here in Australia the deer would be replaced with kangaroos munching on the grass in the evening. They particularly like golf courses!

Sean Peters (A Good Thriller) Lovely picture, no deers in Jersey

message 22: by Lesle (new)

Lesle Good morning all!
Can you believe it is February 1st already?
With sunshine and a balmy 10℉

Since it is snowing here again and off and on throughout the week I am celebrating this:
Spring Countdown: 49 Days till:
Snow Trillium
Dutchman’s Breeches
Snowdrops....I so enjoy the first flowers!

Soft petals wake from winter's sleep,
While sunny, golden daffodils peep.
Tulips rise in shades of red,
Lifting up each sleepy head.
The garden wakes, a vibrant sight,
Spring flowers bringing pure delight.

message 23: by PamG (new)

PamG Good Morning, Lesle. It's gotten warmer in Minnesota so we're getting a little snow today. I love your Spring Countdown and poem.

message 24: by Lesle (new)

Lesle From the forecast it looks like upper 20s and 30s℉ next week.

I cannot wait for the heat wave!

Christine Hatfield HAPPY FEBRUARY EVERYONE!

message 26: by PamG (new)

PamG Happy February, Christine. We actually warmed up into the 20's today with a couple of inches of snow. It was so much better than the single digits F and below 0 temperatures we were having.

Oh ok Sean

˜”*°•.˜”*°• Sheri •°*”˜.•°*”˜ I'm in NC and we had 8 inches of snow last week which is an unusual but wonderful treat. Church was cancelled and school was cancelled and the grocery stores were out of control. Thankfully I had plenty of groceries so I just stayed put.

PamG ˜”*°•.˜”*°• Sheri •°*”˜.•°*”˜ wrote: "I'm in NC and we had 8 inches of snow.... and the grocery stores were out of control...."

I lived in GA and SC for several years. Just the forecast for flurries would panic anyone who wasn't a transplant.

message 40: by Thomas (new)

Thomas I live in Western NY and we are used to snow. My daughter now lives in NC, near Charlotte. She works in a grocery store. People went crazy, buying out staples just before the snow hit. They got 8 in. My granddaughter now lives in Rochester, NY and she was unprepared for the amount pf snow they got(79 in so far this season).

message 41: by Lesle (new)

Lesle We are receiving another 4 inches today.
I am staying home. I make sure I have all I need when the weatherman states "It's coming"

You are so right people go bananas when it comes or the night before. Buying 8 loaves of bread and 4 gallons of milk!
Like the roads will not be passable in just a few days.
