Oh I hadn't heard about this. That is good news. I still need to read books 2 and 3 yet. I promised myself I would read them both this year and I'm determined to hold myself to it.

message 4: by Margret (new)

Margret I’m hoping his health has improved enough we’ll start seeing his works being completed. He is such a great author

message 5: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Kathleen I hadn't heard about that either. I'm glad he's back at writing. :) I look forward to whenever the book is released!

I'm looking forward to this. I suppose I'll have to increase my speed of reading the series. I starred the series in 2017 and I'm only due to start book 4. That's an average of one book a year 😅 🙈

message 12: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain visited brandonsanderson.com, and his line graphs say he's 88% done outlining book 4 & 5 of Stormlight Archive, and 47% through the rough draft of book 4... seems pretty good to me, even if there will be 4 more edited drafts after this first draft is done... seems like we're on track for a 2020 release

I love all the other author's replies to Scott Lynch on the back of this tweet! So supportive of each other! ❤️

message 14: by Maria (new)

Maria Thanks for this thread, Margret! I always feel like I'm too behind on these things 😅 so this is great!

message 15: by jess (new)

jess Yay for Mr Lynch! I still have time to read books 2/3.

I saw the WOT news. About to start book 11 so Im a little excited to start the Sanderson books to conclude the series.

message 16: by Margret (new)

If you want UF news:

*** October Daye by Seanan McGuire has been renewed for 3-6 more books... there are titles for books through 2023, AND the titles for the final 2 books were revealed, so people can stop worrying when there is no contract renewal news towards the end of the current contract... this means at least 19 books in the series, but I'm expecting 24+ since she has joked/commented about wanting to be longer than Dresden Files.

*** Speaking of Dresden Files, Jim butcher has divorced and remarried in the past 5 years, moved and done a ton of other things, and seems to finally be making serious progress on Peace Talks this year

*** Back to Seanan McGuire, the next 3 Incryptid books have names and main characters. Imaginary Numbers & Calculated Risks are about Sarah Zellaby the recovering cuckoo and Artie the half-incubus. After that will be Spelunking Through Hell: A Visitor's Guide to the Underworld, which will focus on Grandma Alice finally rescuing Grandpa Thomas from the Hell Dimension he's been lost in for the past 50 years...

*** Mercy Thompson-verse has a couple more books contracted, including a book about Moira the blind white witch from Hunting Ground

*** Ilona Andrews is writing the 2nd Hidden Legacy trilogy, the 2nd Hugh D'Ambray book is pushed back to December, the next Innkeeper Chronicles book will be an anthology about guests to the Inn(s), and any further Kate Daniels World books are on hold due to excessive hatemail about Julie ruining their writing mojo...

*** Anne Bishop is taking a break from her UF Others series to return to her Dark Fantasy Black Jewels series in 2020, with The Queen's Bargain, which looks like will undo the ending of the series in book 9, based on the blurb...

*** The release date for Fallen has been adjusted again (sooner this time), and is releasing on September 24th... there are only 2-3 more books until this series ends.

*** The last D20 Sorceress book is still unreleased, with the latest updating hoping to release it this month (time is running out): Balancing the Scales

I'm sure I missed a bunch, but this is the main authors I follow, and that last one because of the BR this year.

message 18: by Narilka (new)

Narilka OMG!! Another Black Jewels??? It's been so long :) I kinda don't mind the undo from book 9 or if it somehow is earlier in the timeline. It will be nice to have a new story in that world again regardless.

No... it's pretty much definitely AFTER book 9... the blurb says the only one that can save everything is the dead Queen called Witch... altho, I'm left wondering if it means resurrection or reincarnation (through this Jillian character?)

message 20: by Bill (new)

If I remember right, Witch is reborn every so many generations when there is need. So anything's possible.

I might need to reread the trilogy. It has been a while.

Gavin Timelord Iain wrote: "...and any further Kate Daniels World books are on hold due to excessive hatemail about Julie ruining their writing mojo......"

For real? I love Julie! Definitely one of the better secondary characters in the series along with Derek. I cannot believe they get hit with so much hatemail that they are not going to write any Julie books. Some people are such assholes!

Tammie When I heard about Ilona Andrew's not continuing with the Julie and Derek books right now I was really disappointed.

Some people are just too opinionated and willing to share... some people literally hate Julie with a a vengeance, and others don't think she has enough dimensions to be an MC... and Ilona/Gordon just got sick of it and vented a bit on their blog... while sharing what sounded like the bare bones of an awesome start to a Julie (/Derek?) trilogy, set 8 years in the future where Jim is tired of being Beast Lord and ready to step down...

Which has been set aside until IA feels ready to give KD World books another go...

message 28: by Margret (new)

Margret I wish I could have the title of Beast Lord. That would be badass

I mean, if they are real fans shouldn't they just be glad there are more books coming that are set in this world??

I hope Amazon do not make a mess of the WoT TV show. I must admit I'm not keen on the casting of Rosamund Pike as Moiraine. At least we have a ton of sci-fi and fantasy related TV shows inbound so if WoT turns out bad there will be plenty of alternatives!

Gavin Someone in the TV thread just posted that Anthony Ryan's Raven's Shadow series has been optioned for a TV series. Apparently the pilot has already been written and Ryan himself was happy with it.

I'm all more fantasy shows on TV. It is great living in the post GoT boom era!
