Sofia Tomperi Hiii, I desperately need recommendations for books that are somewhat a cross of fantasy and thriller/horror!

Something with lots of magic, myths/mythology, mysteries and intensity! I need mythological creatures, dragons, unicorns, gnomes, fairies, mermaids/sirens, witches and wizards ect. Darkness, forests, battles and death.

I wanna be shaken to my core and be completely taken away by the plot. I wanna feel the thrill of not knowing that will happen and I wanna be able to get to know the characters and imagine myself in their world!

Thank yall for helppp <3

~ ♡ ⌜ Alex ⌟ Alchemised by SenLinYu is really good! One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig is another favorite of mine. However, my version of thriller/horror might differ from yours, I think you'll like these!

Olivia Gonzalez I recommend "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It's the legend of King Arthur as told by the women in the story.

It's not thriller or horror, but it does have magic, good v evil, forests, fairies, knights, battles, witches/wizards- everything you desire!

Jabotikaba Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series by Tad Williams (wizards, knights, battles, dragons and two elf-like races)
Last King of Osten Ard by Tad Williams (the same as in the first series)
The Bitterbynde trilogy by Cecilia Dart-Thornton (elven-like race, wizardry, travels and battles)
Chimeras of Estmer by Heather Marsh (elven-like race, magic, travels, knights, battles and an army of monsters led by a crazy tyrant)
Eragon series (pretty much everything you wanted)
The Witcher series (everything you wanted plus humor and satire)

Hunter H. Treasures of the Lochs
This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is a powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. The target audience is teenage and above (some parts would be too intense for younger readers). This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out. Also- this Friday (March 6, 2026), there is a ONE DAY SALE on Amazon, and the price of the Kindle/e-book version will be reduced to $2.99.

kylie House of Salt and Sorrows is really good, it's YA with a really unique atmosphere. No witches or dragons, but there is ghosts and it has a castle set in a dark ocean side. It's a fun gothic horror fantasy with a very unique tone.

Not really fantasy/thriller, but When the Moon Hatched has dragons and a unique god system with different powers that were really fun. It's a large book so an intimidating read, but very action packed and fast paced.
