I once saw Wener coming out of Muji in the early noughties with a very particular expression on her face, which the ex I was with and I both agreed (once Wener was well out of earshot) was wanting someone to recognise her so she could act exasperated as if that still happened all the time.
I just finished this and had the same response to Murphy's tales of oligarch parties. Like, mate, WTF?

Amazing. This sounds interesting…the one thing I retained from Louise Wener's memoir is this image of her sitting around in her suburban house remembering the gigs from the old days and wishing she'd "snogged fame harder when she had the chance" (or something like that).
