Christina Goebel Hi Jonathan and everyone. Thanks for starting this group, Jonathan.

I'll be releasing an illustrated Dystopian Science Fiction Fantasy novel within the next few months. It's the first of a series and I'll share more about it in the coming weeks. What is unusual about this novel is that it is SciFi with epic fantasy. I have another fantasy novel that is in progress and a third children's fantasy that I've filed away. I adore world building, and it's a real challenge when you make everything different.

I went the indie route with my nonfiction self-help book and am doing that again with the new book. You know what I really like about indie publishing? Selecting my artist, cover style, and typesetting! I'm working out a book release with more structure this time around and I'll share things that work.

I just wanted to know more about some of you and your specialties. I'm a former English teacher and editing was a natural thing for me though I only take on one project at a time and am currently editing a book for a Goodreads author. I'm not here for that, though. I adore specfic and its writers and readers.

Jonathan Harbour Hi all,
I want to encourage you (anyone) to add your books to the Shelf and promote your works-in-progress. I'm not the best moderator here because of time, but would welcome volunteers to be added to the moderators list--if anyone is interested, let me know as I'm hoping the group becomes self-sustaining.
Thanks! -Jon

Sue McKerns Hi, Jonathan. I'm new here and would like clarification on the rules, as I very much wish to comply. I've just started a beta reading and proofreading business. My focus is exactly the focus of this group. See my profile. Can I advertise here, and if so, where would be appropriate? Looking forward to hearing from you. - Sue

Jonathan Harbour Hi Sue. Yes, no problem at all, feel free. I haven't been promoting this group for growth due to being too busy.

Lamana Ali Hey guys!

My name is Ali, and I write under the pen name "Lamana Ali"—Lamana being a childhood nickname. I've recently fulfilled a lifelong passion by writing my first novel, "The Celestial Ashes." This sci-fi fantasy space opera is loosely based on the story of Grenada, Spain, and its last Moorish empire, and incorporates many Moorish and Celtic elements. I first encountered this story when I was 14, and it has stayed with me ever since, ultimately serving as the foundation for this novel. If you enjoy sci-fi fantasy space opera epics with a twist, I invite you to give it a read.
The story explores themes of loyalty, love, betrayal, political power, spiritual faith, and the burdens of leadership. Key to its appeal is the nuanced portrayal of conflict—not just external war but also the internal struggles of conscience and familial duty over the protagonist's secret relationship and its implications. The incorporation of faith and mysticism offers depth rarely found in traditional sci-fi, potentially appealing to readers who like thematic complexity. Currently free to read on Amazon with a Kindle membership.
