Such a thoughtful review, Rowan! I absorbed every word and can only you have done it again—a thorough reading and analysis. I really admire how much nonfiction you read and enjoy. I am reading one myself right now and it’s very slow going even though I think it’s a great book. I guess the escapism of literature is where I tend to go more in book world. I’m always enlightened by your reading choices and commentary.

Thank you for your kind words, Elizabeth! 😊 I like mixing things up when it comes to my reading, but have always been drawn to true stories, especially those which are previously untold or important to remember. I often crave fiction after some nonfiction to keep things interesting!
Sounds to me like the author didn’t stretch himself enough, Rowan. Policing is a very tough profession and maybe this book didn’t quite cover that issue. A good review of a book with which you were not too impressed.

Thank you, Terence ☺️ You certainly gain an appreciation for how tough the profession is - especially in those days. They really didn’t have many resources back then! I felt for those who lost their lives in this book and the families they left behind.
Books that require a lot of dictionary look ups are great and awful at the same time 🤣 This was a wonderful and fair review, Rowan! Glad you enjoyed it despite some of its flaws.
