augh! i still need to put my review up! today i remember my sins!
As in, the fantasy religion in this novel seems based on that of Latter Day Saints/Mormonism. I haven’t seen that before in a fantasy novel, and thought it was creative.
The use of "alt" in general signifies a setting or element strongly based on or inspired by a real-world one. Like "alt-Scotland" would be a fantasy setting that is obviously Scotland, but doesn't have to abide by the actual geography or historical events of that country.
