Things may be different in Canada. I have talked to several ex-teachers here and it is a wonder that kids learn anything. They can just get up and leave whenever they want, as if they are going to the restroom. They can disrupt class. The teachers can't discipline them in any way and the school administration is more worried about hurting a child's feelings than supporting the teacher. One teacher complained that they had to have a litter box in the classroom because one student didn't identify as a boy or a girl but rather a cat! I doubt they used the litter box though. Instead of teaching them the required subjects, they teach them that they may have gender identity problems, or about sex, as if they are grooming them. Hell, I didn't learn about sex in 3rd grade, and we didn't have crossdressers reading stories to kids. Our teachers weren't having sex with students either, or at least not as much as today. As it is, some can't read or do math other than maybe counting money, yet the teachers pass them. A child can get in trouble for wearing an 'offensive' shirt that has MAGA or a patriotic phrase on it but not if it is something supporting leftist causes. They didn't want to allow any flags or posters in the classroom other than the rainbow or BLM flags and posters. My son was taking a college class and the teacher was pushing leftist material on them, making the class read their ideology if they wanted to pass. My son is intelligent and could see what she was doing. Depending on which news station you follow you will hear about college students protesting and forcing their opinions on others, and getting violent at times. A good example is all the hate against Charlie Kirk and his organization on college campuses. There are videos of students trashing their tables and posters. Who do you think teaches them that? Jewish students were threatened at universities while Palestinian supporters were running amok. A University of Oklahoma graduate teaching assistant who was fired after flunking a Christian student who cited the Bible in an essay, causing a national uproar, is appealing the school's decision. Published January 2, 2026 on Fox. More and more people are starting to home teach their children here. Trump haters will say there is nothing wrong here and don't want things to change. But things are changing. Well, I didn't mean to go into a long dialogue but there is just so much wrong here and people are getting fed up.

I so agree that we must suppliment our children's education! I have no idea what is going on in the public school system. but it's great parenting to be involved and to make sure our children understand basics and not rely on public education. We are responsible for our children's education, not some random human that was hired by the school district. Sounds like a great book! Great review Joe, and no, I cannot imagine finding an ancient body in a bog!!!

Thanks, Barbara. The public school system needs to be overhauled starting with getting rid of the heads of the teacher's union. When the politicians in Illinois were pushing for making gambling legal they lied and said it would solve the financial problems for the public school system. I wonder where all the money went?
