Oldman_JE I love me some pertinacity. Also made me think of perspicacity.

Maybe I shouldn't have started with Vilette. It wasn't the writing but the person the character seemed to be becoming that was turning me away.

Nice review, man.

Thanks man.

Haven't read Villete yet. I was sometimes concerned about where Jane was heading as a character - but she went in the right direction in the end. From what I've read, the Bronte sisters had a bit of a rough life - so I think they may have tended toward the bleak. I've heard Wuthering Heights is depressing as hell.

Perspicacity: good one. Somewhat similar to peripatetic (which Jane Eyre kind of was now that I think of it).

Michael Morgan One of my wife's favorite books. I should give it a read. Nice review, Noel.

Thanks very much. Give it a shot. I think some might find it slow but you don't really read a book like this for action.
