Erin FitzGerald Totally unpopular opinion, perhaps, but the cover on this one set off alarm bells in my head when I saw the review, so this no shade on the review at all!

I conducted a bit of quick research, dreading the results...

There's a massive influx of gen-AI books in reader spaces these days, and there are some dead giveaways: They're not published in paperback, a publisher search links back to companies linked to gen-AI, and the authors don't have personal websites. Typically their bios are bland, with vague or cartoony avatar photos, if there's a photo at all. It's too simple a process, in that Amazon provides an ASIN for free, so it costs the "publisher" nothing.

This stuff breaks my heart, because we keep saying that AI won't replace real authors, but here we are. An "author" like this will keep cranking out a "book" every three to four weeks in this series, a completely unsustainable pace for a human--or for any real marketing, so this will be volume over quality, and it's dominating the space.

Worse yet, most people won't know (and some won't care) that these aren't written by a real human. 😭
