The main character always shapes the story, especially in Christian children’s fiction. In my Christian children's novella, Through the Flames, twelve-year-old Kai Aka is my main character. Like any other kid in real life, Kai has fears. He is afraid of things such as public speaking and even the ocean in his Maui home. Despite his fear, Kai Aka grows in His courage in God to try to protect his siblings. This is a character that kids will be drawn to.
