I'm finding I don't love Fredrik Backman as much as everyone else does. This book is also on my list, having been highly recommended. Now that I've read your review, I'll give myself permission not to finish it if needs be.

I agree it was hard to get into, but I persisted and ended up liking it. I think I just like his insights into people. I enjoy many if his books.
