Perry As a writer, I have been approached by two different people purporting to be moderators or curators of Boxall's Reading Challenge. Here is an excerpt from one such email:
"My name is Fiora and I work closely with the Boxall’s 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die reading community, an established, discussion-driven group of more than 3,000 active readers who value books that challenge assumptions, provoke reflection, and open meaningful conversations about identity, connection, and human experience. Our members are not passive readers; they are people who enjoy exploring ideas deeply, sharing interpretations, and engaging with books that speak to real emotional and social realities."
Both of these so-called moderators have asked me for money (several hundred dollars) to have books of mine included in the Reading Challenge. I find this very fishy. But, can you let me know if any of this is for real? Are writers approached for money to have their books included in the Reading Challenge? There are enough problems now with writing and promoting a book without having to deal with these kinds of potentially scam situations.
thank you, Perry Brass

Check our FAQs, Perry. We have been hearing from several writers who are encountering this scam as have other groups. A little research into our group will show you that the Boxall List is based on the Boxall's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die and unless you are listed in one of the editions of the book, you can not be on the list. Also Group Moderators are usually listed on a group's home page.
