Nancy Oakes This is your space for talking about John Grisham's The Widow. Please note that there is also a spoiler thread for anyone who's already read it or gets ahead of everyone else. Have fun!

Tricia Is this a good read? I have not heard of this book until this thread popped up.... interested to hear others opinions of the book before I begin reading it! ☺️

Danis Miller-Bucholz I hadn't read a Grisham novel in a few years. Read this one as soon as it was published. I enjoyed it and it reminded me a bit of the early Grisham novels - it kept my interest and included a few good plot twists. I'll be curious to hear what everyone thinks. I thought the characterization was well done - characters I became invested in and curious about as I read. The legal aspects of the novel were also interesting.

Judy Sheluk I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. It actually got me back to reading Grisham, who I haven’t read in years.

R.T. Lund I, too, hadn't read a Grisham novel in a few years--felt that he was just "going through the motions" with stereotypical characters and formulaic stories in several of his more recent books (quantity over quality, I guess), but I'd rate The Widow a 4.5. At first, I wondered how the protagonist lawyer could be duped by the elderly woman's incredulous story of wealth (though she lived modestly) without doing more research into her assets--the easy answer of course--GREED. I also enjoyed the cast of characters and side stories.

I felt the same way, R.T, as far as "going through the motions." But his one was truly an entertaining read. Glad you enjoyed the recommendation.
