message 1: by Sonja (new)

Sonja Arlow Yea I also love his stand ups but I have not heard great things about this book

message 2: by Emily (new)

Emily He's my favorite comedian, and I'm half way through the book right now and not even sure I want to finish it.

message 3: by Hanna (new)

Hanna Collins I've enjoyed his stand up too and I'm about 25% through the book and haven't really laughed. I receive ARCs on Netgalley and Edelweiss as well, so I'm wondering if it was a robot voice narrating? Was it actually him? I've wondered if I'd like it more if I heard him reading it.

message 4: by Ginny (new)

Ginny the Joe Rogan listening caught me off guard and sort of ruined it for me.

message 5: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi Young I’m over halfway through the audiobook. Most of it falls flat 🤷‍♀️ but I’m still a fan.

message 6: by Phil (new)

Phil His comedy has a lot to do with timing and tone. Neither survive the transition to book narration. I think i chuckled twice. Better to watch or rewatch one of his Netflix specials.

message 7: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Buhl I do think the second half of the book was WAY funnier than the first half.

message 8: by Tracy (new)

Tracy Jakich Davis I fully agree with this. I was actually shocked about all the Christian talk

message 9: by Emily (new)

Emily Bradley Interesting takes. I loved listening to this book and laughed out loud many times!

message 10: by Pat (new)

Pat I’m listening to the book. I think audio is a better format for this. - He reads with great timing and I have chuckled many times through it on my walks in my neighborhood.

message 11: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Gladney All of this. 💯

message 12: by Richard (new)

Richard Weaver Well, it’s actually his barber that listens to Joe Rogan, not him.
And, the whole “Christian talk“ it’s kind of interesting. I guess you wouldn’t be interested in books with “Muslim talk” or “Jewish talk” -lived experiences of people other than us have value too. At least 2 1/2 stars worth of value, I guess.

message 13: by Kelli (new)

Kelli Sellers @Emily same! I chuckle so often!

message 14: by Ryan Lanier (new)

Ryan Lanier I love this book. I’ve laughed out loud even cackled. Definitely shocked to hear so many people panning it. Ellen, Tina Fey, Leanne Morgan all have great books, too. Audio is the best format for comedians.

message 15: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Agreed- thanks for sharing!

message 16: by Linda (new)

Linda Crow If you know his comedy at all, you wouldn’t be shocked hearing about a Christian influence. He literally does whole bits about it.

message 17: by Jerry (new)

Jerry Holmes Read the other comments. They express my feelings, as well.

message 18: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Mayone Totally agree with Holly’s review. I kept waiting for it to get funny!

message 19: by Sharee (new)

Sharee Chapman Exactly my thoughts! Well done!!

message 20: by Lori Neal (new)

Lori Neal So glad to see your review and all of these comments, because I agree and I thought there was something wrong. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Nate's and I keep telling him I didn't laugh at the book. He thinks I'm ridiculous.

message 21: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Exactly! You have given me the courage to abandon this at 30% without regret

message 22: by Courtney (new)

Courtney You echoed my experience with this book too. The mentions of Joe Rogan sent me over the edge. DNF at 85% because FUUUUUCK THAT SHIT.

message 23: by Heather (new)

Heather Mullins All of this.

message 24: by Thomas (new)

Thomas I watched his specials on Netflix and his humor resonated with me and the humor I write. Do you think reading it could have been funnier than listening to it?

message 25: by Miriam (new)

Miriam Wilkes This.
